VCA awards ceremony/convention.

Not sure where this goes so move if appropriate...
I was wondering if anyone has given thought to having a convention dedicated to AMVs and have like an oscar style awards show for the VCA. The actual awards ceremony would just be the main event for a convention dedicated to AMVers. What do you all think of an AMV convention?

I think the idea has been brought up before, but it just seems that putting together a convention specifically for AMVs would end up being somewhat futile considering the already large number of anime conventions that have AMV-related events. I understand that you mean, a con exclusive to AMVs and not just anime, but I could see it becoming just another anime con, that simply happens to have a big AMV focus (similar to, say.. AWA).

I think if somebody decided to put it together, and could be seriously dedicated to making it stand out and be fun and accessible, then I would consider going. But I'd be somewhat skeptical to be honest.

This has already been proposed in a-m-v.Org convention.

I think that the drama and inevitable tear-gassing to contain the rabid crowd would be fun to watch, though.

AWA is really the closest thing there will be to an AMV Con, considering how much work goes into the VAT...
