What the hell!!!?? (explicit AMV's)
What the hell happened to all the explicit AMVs!? Are they generally not allowed anymore to be listed on this site or something??? Most of the ones I find are like 4 years old, and it seems a lot of the well known creators stopped making them.

A lot of it has to do with source availability. You can't make a goreblast video if there's no goreblast anime out, and let's face it, the anime industry isn't doing Shuten Doji and Maryuu Senki any more. And what good sources do exist aren't always the most available; I've got some good Violence Jack ideas, but damned if I can find Violence Jack for sale anywhere. The last two gore videos I did, I had to do from third-hand VHS and second-hand encodes from Chinese VCDs (this one and this one).
The state of grotesque in anime right now is just pitiful, and a lot of it has to do with the way suff is currently produced. Mai HiME has some decent monster designs, but the bright colors and clean lines just totally ruin it. It might improve with the right filtering to dirty up the picture, but it's not addressing the underlying problem that the "machine grotesque" style of the late '80s is gone. Death metal album covers don't look like that any more, and neither does anime.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

I wish the industry would go back to it, there are claims of it promoting it, but I find it more relieving than anything. Now instead of going out and killing as many as i can to vent some rage, I can just enjoy a nice gory video. Salute's to all of you who still do excessively violent amvs.
