i asked me the same question about 1000 times.. but i think there was no first creator or something like this. maybe there is one but i don't think that we can find him or her xD
there were many people who had the idea and someday there was org XD (ok a stupid joke)
sometimes i see vids (downloaded from i-mesh or something) which are for sure very old : 1. because of the song 2. of the quality of the vid (ripped from vhs) 3. editing
i really can't help you ^^ but i hope someone else can
just wanted to post this :o

I believe most people agree it was that guy who moderated the Otakon 2004 AMV panel (*GRUMBLE*), who made an AMV back in 1983... but was that before or after GAiNAX made the Daicon animations? 'Cause really, those were also AMVs.

But don't quote me.

After Daicon III (1981), but the same year as Daicon IV (1983). And I think you're right. IIRC, he's the creator of the first known AMV, though there may have been some people who did something similar, but didn't distribute their work.

Actually, Mr Roboto was done for 1992.... It's hard to say what the first AMV really was since that if the one that we know about, but someone else could of made one for a club meeting or smaller event....

I think animated music video goes way back to something Disney did called Fantasia. In the 70's Disney channel also did some music videos called D'TV, popular songs with disney animation clips set to them. I remember because my kids were watching Disney channel back then. As for music videos set to anime, who knows, this is something lost in the mists of time. :D
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

If you think about it, AMV's have always been around since the first anime was created...

Basically because the Animes have audio, and video too... That's what an AMV is all about.
