The Attitudes Of AMV Creators...
The attitudes of an AMV creator are fickle...
I haven't been making AMVs too long, but within the time i've been making them and competing in competitioni've noticed the attitudes that most AMV creators carry. It's hard to respect that there have been so many good videos created by countless artests, but when you look at the person who created it you see nothing but an egotistical jack ass.
Sure everyone (most everyone) on this forum creates music videos. I can see that. What I don't get are the number of creators (at this point I'll start reffering to the creators as 'editors', or 'artists' as well) who believe that creating the video puts them at a much higher level than the viewer.
There's no AMV Heirarchy people. being an AMV Artist doesn't allow you to walk around thinking you're tough shit. Sure being the Editor of such an AMV should give you a feeling of accomplishment over the crowd, but in no way does it make you better than the audience, the judges, or even your fellow Editors. It's flat out DISRESPECTFUL to try to claim who's better than who.
everyone... shines in their own field. you shouldn't pop someone's bubble just because you think you have the right to disown the AMV Artists because you won an award over them. Awards are nothing but popularity contests. I learned that. And now I know.
I've seen and heard stories of AMV Creators bitch and whine to get their way at conventions because they think they're special. but you know what? you shouldn't be getting any special priveleges. I don't care who you are.
Another example might include the 'newbie'. a newbie joins this forum to get help. to meet people. and when they ask "Who do you make an AMV?" they're not trying to be annoying. they ask out of curiousity. and to get a deeper understanding of how the creation of such a thing begins. how does this community treat that 'newbie'? you all flame them. everyone. you all flame them. and make them feel insignificant. you belittle them to the point where you make them believe the AMV community as a whole are just assholes. It's happend to me once or twice too. I ask a simple question and everyone blows up at me. "Where's Kevin Cawldwell?" i asked. and i wont even list the names of the people who flamed me. I was hurt. my community is too egotistical.
I've also noticed the changes in attitudes among award winners at conventions. I've seen 'nobodys' win awards and rub it in people's faces. the awards are for fun, i've always thought. If I won an award i'd be proud. I'd be confused why I won, but i'd be proud when i got home. I'd mention it along with the video's info, but i'd never stick it in someone's face.
My videos suck.
i've talked to people. people who tell me how much of a ass THIS person is.. or how much an ass THAT person is. and i argree. i hate to say it, but i agree.
TommyRude for example... FOR EXAMPLE!
he's not the best AMV editor out there. he may not have any awards under his belt, but... when he says he wants to make a DDR project... who are we to tell him to go to hell? to tell him to kiss our asses because the rights to the idea are ours? how easy you all forget that teh anime we're using isn't ours. the music... isn't our own. we have no rights to anything. and if anything.. im sure we can get in trouble for doing what we're doing. its utter nonsense. And so what is Tommy is an ass alot of the times? he's also a good guy too. but you dont knwo this because you're all too caught up with your heads in the clouds.
Ermac is another example. EXAMPLE!
people hate him. why? hell if i know... or care for that matter. he thinks he's up on the "heirarchy" along with many others... maybe his ego irritates others. maybe others are jealous? but jealous of what? the number of awards he has? awards aren't anything to lable anybody with.
who has the right to decide who's Elite? what is elite? why are these people elite? how do you become elite? Elite members... have the worst attitudes of them all. They act as though their shit doesn't stink. I'd like to see them prove me wrong.
This is embarrassing... the community we're creating... this isn't how it should be. I've always been kind enough to help people with questions they need help on. i've always been kind enough to critique their videos too. it's the least i can do. you should all consider helping out... you can't make amvs your whole lives...
it's only a hobby.
it's not a profession.

The only noobs that deserve flaming are those who carry that obnoxious 'im teh coolest, check me out' or 'answer my questions becuz im special' attitude around. Otherwise, they're just like the rest of us were when we started. And personally I think I had a lot better ideas for how to make amvs cool before I actually became a creator.

I think of myself as a...
oh wait...
Nah, just a DDR enthusiast who tries things here and there. Though YES, people say I make too much dancy vids, I've done some dramatic dance (is that true? still unsure if such a term is feasible in an environment of one-way thinkers such as this...
People say I've become "one-way" myself making mostly upbeat stuff... hey, it's just the way I do things, if you like it fine, and YES, I'll be doing slower dramatic stuffs just to "try - it" so to speak. Thanks to Odorikuruu, I decided to "try" amv editing. Though I may not have the "super - eliteness" of some of the others, I'm trying to say "i'm not as noobish as some of you, but I'm still not 'pro' either..."
Good post Spamda!
It's not fair to others such as this... One person's truth is another person's lie right?
oh yeah...

someone (an ass) is probably going to eventually going to try to make a note on something wrong with your post thinking "Hey, he just called me an ass." But anywho, good points made, indeed people do "flame" too much, more than neccessary in this forum. Those that do, remember how it was when you didn't know how to "Make a video". I remember, and at the time the people where very considerate and somewhat patient with newbies, me being one of them. I try to help, but I've hardly been around this forum, usually just stop by the AMV announcments and opinion exchange. To me an award wouldn't mean much, if it where some trophy, a dvd, t-shirt, or something I can actually use is another story. My award is the audiences reaction, nothing gives more satisfaction on a job well done than the audiences' and your own reaction to a vid.

Some the most original and creative ideas exist onlly in the minds of people who look to a dream and know nothing of limits. Limits, such as hard drive space, money for software/hardware, time spent learning, and everything else.
After you have added all those factors, the once bright idea becomes much more critical and the road to creation becomes an veritcal climb. and for new comers especially, since many don't have any experience in video editing at all.
My current project isn't what I first thought it'll be like. LOL...just gotta dream some more.
