AMV - The Musical
Ok, so "AMV The Musical" is like saying "AMV The Video," BUT... has anyone ever tried to initiate a multi-editor project based on a musical? I'm not sure what would be appropriate...but "Les Miserables" certainly has possibilities. Whatever the case, I'm betting it would involve heavy duty audio editing, as songs in musicals tend to be lengthy.
Hrm, we could even have the orchestra tuning up, the audience making noise, the curtians going up (and down) and the cast coming back to take their bows. How much fun would THAT be? Nice at a convention, too.
OMG!! LOL How about "Cats" with Loveless? Cat anime in general, actually, heck, we're not short on cat ears, now are we? Erm, Gankutsuou and Beck for "The Phantom of the Opera?" NGE for "Evita?" The opportunities are incredible! Most likely various anime would be used for each song...unless some enterprising people and a very long anime series (FMA would be popular) tackled an entire musical with one anime.
Many people have used songs from the stage for their AMVs, I just thought it would be cool to see a collaborative project tackle an entire musical, with everyone on the same page, so to speak, by focusing on telling just the musical's story.

My anime selection is limited currently, but I'll give anything a shot if I can be of any help.
While we're on the subject - I had a thought that the following songs might make great amvs if someone out there is crazy enough to give it a shot.
“Telephone Hour” – Bye Bye Birdie
“Fame”
“I Hope I Get it” – A Chorus Line
“America” – West Side Story
“Officer Krupke” – West Side Story

Making an amv, is rather like being the director of a Broadway show, where you have a million dancers and each of them only knows one step.

Well, if you ever get this project off the ground, I'd be willing to help (had a couple of ideas involving tunes I could prob. dust off for this project...and actually, one started up recently (Bastard!! using 'The Dubbing (Knight of the Woeful Countenance)' from Man of LaMancha)
That said, getting one show all conveniently tied together...far easier said than done...but if you ever think you can pull it off, again, let me know, I'd be interested in pitching in.

LOL wow, glad people like the idea. I personally think it could be really awesome - whether it ends up hilarious, sentimental, crazed or...just "inventive."
Here's the thing, I'm not an AMV veteran and would feel very wrong leading a project like this, which is why I brought it up here as a suggestion. If you AMV vets out there think this is a fun idea and want nothing to do with me, please feel free to run with it without worrying about my feelings. I'll certainly sign up to participate if you do. ^_^
However, if someone with experience heading up a multi-editor project and a reliable track record wants to tackle a musical, with your's truly pitching in enthusiastically as far as organizational/managerial/creative things go, I'd definately consider taking it on. PM me for further discussion. Thanks all!

Anyone ready to throw out specifics? Animes/musical combos? What does anyone have to want to work with?
