A shout out to AMV makers, and some knocking >.>

First off, I'd like to say I really appreciate people who make amv's. The quality ones take some time and talent to make. I've made some too but they never have been that good. But whatever

What I really want to discuss is how old the songs are for amvs. Most of the time, all I see is an anime music video set to some linkin park song >.>

I love linkin park, I have no problem with them but my god, can people be a little bit more original and use some new songs?

Also, I recently looked up some amvs with samurai champloo as the central theme...yet again I see it set to some rock group. MY GOD! Samurai champloo IS NOT ROCK! It is far from it. The theme's are rap! The beats are hip hop! It does NOT go well with rock.

Yeah, just saying I notice too much lp flying around. And people should try experimenting with different music genres.

Do you look at videos that are announced in the AMV Announcements? You won't be finding much LP there... And if you're that tired of LP videos, use Super Search to look up videos to the artist you think do the series justice.

most of the people on this site like "pop rock" (rock that is popular) so more than likely (no matter what the original ANIME theme is) people are going to use that... There are a few AMVers that make other Genres of music but for the most part I see Pop and Rock being used the most, and why? is that? because thats what people like..

and just because an anime has a certain theme to its music that doesnt mean that people are going to stick to THAT theme...

Chobits would be all slow saxs and porn moans o.0
FLCL would be all upbeat jrock (ive seen variations o.0)
Sailor Moon would be ALL pop
Cardcaptor Sakura would be set to "Game show music"
Evangelion would be set to classical
Inuyasha would be constantly set to John Williams (like Jurassic Park) themes, or Danny Elfman (like Spiderman) themes

I think its cool to see new views on animes besides what its original theme music is...

I see you're sick and tired of the conventional fixed style jazz. :P

Part of the reason you see the same genre of songs being used is that what's viewed as the 'right' way to edit is geared for it. There's a fair amount of people who think that accenting every beat with a flash/cut/effect is the height of a quality AMV. Some will admit that the slow sappy songs need a slightly different feel but even then beat sync is largely where it's at. Which is fine and great until you start experimenting with other genres. I tried an old 20's era jazz song once and trust me, hitting every beat doesn't do the song justice. It was one of the worse things I've seen since I watched one of Sammy's videos.

So anyway, part of the reason rock/rap/techno/etc is so popular is that the current fads in editing pretty much require music with a heavy beat.

-____-" I'm not a new user to AMV, I know how to use the super search. However, I'm just pointing out the fact that there is a HUGE number of mv's that are set to rock that get a bit tiring to look at.

YES I'VE CHECKED FOR AMVS SET TO OTHER GENRE'S OF MUSIC!
so  back atcha.
