Looking for an anime
I'm looking for an anime which contains one of the following elements (the more the better):
* Civil unrest
* Rioting
* War
* Famine
* Burning houses
* Large amounts of motor vehicles/Traffic (both moving and standing still)
* Deserted/destroyed houses/cities
* Guerilla warfare
* Excessive energy use by flashy machines
* (Piles of) Corpses
* War crimes
I know it's not a happy list but I just need the footage . Thanks in advance...

Depending on how you like your production values (present/nonexistent), you might try the new Fist of the North Star series, the older movie, or even the TV version. MD Geist has some of the above elements as well, but it kind of sucks and I wouldn't recommend buying (over renting or whatever) it for video use.

Re: Looking for an anime
* Civil unrest -- Akira, Metropolis
* Rioting - Again, Akira and Metropolis are pretty safe bets here
* War - ...take your pick here man...still, for the sake of the fact it's underused (and getting rereleased next year,) I'm gonna suggest Armored Trooper VOTOMS
* Famine - Grave of the Fireflies
* Burning houses - Likewise, Grave of the Fireflies might cover you here
* Deserted/destroyed houses/cities - A Wind Called Amnesia, Fist of the North Star, parts of Macross: Do You Remember Love?, the Colony 30 episode of Zeta Gundam
* (Piles of) Corpses - Now and Then, Here and There could prove good with this.
* War crimes - ...same here, actually. Also some of the UC Gundam titles have their share of war crime activities (Zeta has several cases of civilians being targeted, F-91 has an EF officer wanting to use children as shields...visually, not exactly heavy duty stuff, so probably not what you have in mind (shy of maybe the Zeta colony gassings and/or firing a whole through a colony hull.)
Just some thoughts, not sure how well they'll suit, but hey

Re:looking for an anime
Well, if you can find those hidden ones, I think, yes Grave of the Firelfies if a good one, but, Full Metal alchemist can prove worthy to a point. cars might be its downfall, it takes place in the 1800's and cars are, well, old and almost non-existant.
if there was truley anything that could rip your heart out the most, it wiuld be the biggest death of a unknown person.
