AMV Contest entry question
I'm just wondering, if I'm going to submit my AMV to an AMV contest, or to a convention, should I withold on uploading my AMV to animemusicvideos.org until the AMV is shown at the convention? I haven't been able to figure this out, and I don't know if I should or not.

well it depends on the rules and what you want to do... if the contest rules state you can't release the video before the contest, then don't.
personally i don't like to wait to release my videos. i don't really make videos for contests so i have no reason not to release a video before an contests i plan on entering.

If you just want people to be able to see your video at a convention, then I think its fine to release it on the org first. However if your goal is competition to try and win an award or something, I strongly recommend you DON'T post it on the org until the convention is over.
Whenever I see videos in a contest and I've already seen the video before, I just think "god, not THAT video again!". Even if its a really good video, I would be less likely to enjoy it and score it well. Thankfully, I don't judge amv contests

Re: AMV Contest entry question
this is up to you... your choice, unless the contest states otherwise....Clowd wrote:I'm just wondering, if I'm going to submit my AMV to an AMV contest, or to a convention, should I withold on uploading my AMV to animemusicvideos.org until the AMV is shown at the convention? I'm holding out on my A-kon video cause I want to suprise people XD... plus I've been looking up the "competition" here using the super search... I will know what they have submitted (well mostly) but they wont know what kind of competiton I bring to this contest...
I may change my mind in future contests, but since this is my first con contest, I'm going to hold out till the contest... THEN let everyone know how I did XD

Jadd: your holding out on us?!!
And here I have blabbing about my Fruits Basket video on everyone already... that's it... I ain't releasing that either until A-Kon finishes
The problem with me though is I'm somewhat impatient... record for holding out on a video would have to be AA Heroes... held on to that for about a month before releasing...

It your choice really. What I ended up doing with my video was putting it up on the .org the day before the con, and not putting which contests it was competing in on my video information until after the con.
