What makes a great AMV to you?

This is a simple forum. Just state what you like about your favorite AMVs. Also what are some things you are tired of seeing in AMVS?

What I like: Great lyric & beat synch.

What I don't like: Naruto, FMA, any DB series. (And FF is gaining fast.)

My favorite amvs make me smile, laugh, or feel something I like - nostalgia, wistfulness, intrigue, amazement, etc. My favorite amvs usually feature anime characters I like to begin with, but a few just have concepts that strike my fancy and stick around in my short memory span.

I'm tired of seeing great editing wasted on concepts I'm not interested in. I'm tired of seeing songs I love get wasted on anime I've never seen and am not the least bit interested in. I get tired of seeing my favorite editors make videos that don't appeal to me, despite my appreciation of their editing skills.

I'm a selfish amv-watcher. I like videos that appeal to me, and all the rest are mere interesting editing experiments that have little bearing on me as an individual. I see a noted difference between 'great' and 'favorite' - one is technically well done and the other is personally enjoyable. The two may overlap, but not necessarily.

I like amvs that make me emotional moved. It doesnt have to have fancy effects and quality footage. Some of the best amv I loved wasnt even consider good editting jobs. There have to be something about how the song fits the anime.

Yeah when it comes to DB videos I agree with you. I don't find that so visualy entertaining to begin with.

Yeah when it comes to DB videos I agree with you. I don't find that show visualy entertaining to begin with.

I like allot of good editing with effects like wisper of the beast, zetsumo, or Euphoria just 3 that pop into my head

I also like good peat sync,lip sync, good picture quality,good sync

I dont mind whatching db/dbz/dbgt videos..I dont like the anime but some of the videos are ok like dark angel19's sayin race remake, I like whatching naruto vids sence its on of my fav animes and iv made allot of naruto amvs something im growing out of >.> but the anime is still good

its hard to specifically categorize what makes an amv great to me... usually sync in general though.

sync to the mood
sync to the action (internal or cuts)
sync to the lyrics (if done well and didnt get over cheezy, unless the mood is cheesy)

Quality does factor in at points though. because if i see a good concept that is synced fairly well but its so blurry i cant watch it on full screen, or it has tacky subs all over the place, or if it has "stolen" footage...

sometimes knowing the editorer's laziness (or lack of knowledge) can really ruin an AMV for me.

I have however been known to enjoy some videos even when things were bad... but at the same time thats very rare.

Like: Detailed sync, good visual quality, original concept, thought behind the video, nice but not agressive effects, manipulation of the original story, echi, fan-service, and last but not least \m/.

Hate: Most-used-stuff (except when being combined with a super-original concept), wmv, negative of like, disgusting videos.

Guess everything should have been mentioned.
