Watching or making?
What is better? Making or watching AMV's? Watching can be fun, enjoyable and quick, but there is something that must be satisfying about putting in the long hours of making one and having people enjoy your work. So what do you prefer?

Watching.
I'm lazy. If I can find a video to fill an amv-urge, without having to spend weeks making it myself, I'm very happy and - if the vid is good - satisfied. I enjoy editing the way I enjoy alphebetizing my dvds or archiving the files on my computer. It's an active way to pass time, engaging and interesting, with the bonus of having a vid to fill that amv-urge when it's all over. But as much as I do like to keep occupied, enjoying semi-tedious busywork, there are more fun things to do. If I could find someone who'd make vids on demand for me, I'd never edit again.

I prefer watching. But there are some songs that are calling me to pair them with anime and so far either the available AMVs to the combo aren't satisfying or are non-existant, so I suppose eventually, I will make them. I think if someone would do all the prep work for me (ripping DVDs, indexing, pre-processing and making clips) like the people that do everything before the show so Emeril just has to walk on stage and cook, I'd be more prolific.

Also lazy, so watching here. I also have a very limited selection of anime to work from (unless I want to use my fansub collection, but then I'd have to edit the subs out, or work around them like for my Xenosaga vid--no thank you) . And watching AMVs exposes me to ideas I'd've never though of, or videos that are more techincal than I'm able to do myself, as well as new shows and music that I may not even be aware of.
Making is fun too, though AMV Hell notwithstanding, I don't plan to make another AMV until I get a new video editor.

I prefer to... make them... but then, after like a day into the AMV i get sick of watching the same footage over and over and over again and then I just prefer to watch them.

Making. I rarely download new AMVs nowadays, unless they're something recommended to me, or by a favorite editor/to a favorite musical artist of mine.
I don't like making them (on the technical level), either, actually - but I do enjoy watching the result. Lately, I also enjoy watching others' work in progress. ("Artsy" editors - take note - I love watching progressive betas )

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
