What is most important to you in your vids?

Post by Cornwiggle » Tue May 02, 2006 7:07 pm

When you make videos what do you try and make the best everytime, which is the most important thing to you?

Sound?
Clips?
Editing?
Effects?
Execution?
Lip-synch (if you have it)?
Everything?
Or do you just make vids with whatever you can get because the idea is what is important?

I would say in mine I just make videos about stuff I actually have ideas about and want to so the execution of those ideas is important to me. I want to make sure my idea gets acrossed and it comes out like I wanted.

What about you?

x2

As long as others like it and I like it, then I've done my job.

Hm.. Getting the point across in my vids using the best combination of scenes possibly is usually top priority. Whether I'm doing it just to get back into editing, or if I want to convey specific emotions across using a theme.. Second is probably syncing. :)

EFFFEECCTTTSS! ...and beat synch. Plots and such are secondary. If I want a plot I'll watch a series.

Fuck everyone else, I just want to entertain myself. I'm the one who has to sit there and edit for umpteen hours; if I'm not happy, then all of that time is wasted. All you have to do is sit there for three and a half minutes. Who's got the bigger investment of time and energy here? Really.

Other people liking it is a great bonus, but in cases where other people like a video more than I do (which...has happened), it's not satisfying at all.

This sounds egotistical, but I don't see it that way. It's more like a hedonistic break from real life. I spend most of my life trying to make everyone else happy, while my opinions and thoughts don't matter. This intrudes into about half of my hobbies, too, so I really need a break from pandering to everyone else. I've refused to let it take over editing too. It's just a little space where I can do what makes me happy. And if I can share that with others, that's great, but I'd be doing it anyway.

It's the difference between "I made cookies for you" and "I made some cookies, do you want some?" It's a subtle difference at times, but it's important to me.

So anyway, entertainment value to me. Which is why my videos suck, but I still like them and watch them anyway.

I want videos that leave me feeling satisfied that I made something worth making. That's the only touchstone I have.
