Gundam Seed/Destiny Video needs a Song Sugestion
I've been trying to make this video for easly two years now. Ever since the end of Seed, I've been determined to make it, but I could never find the right song for what I am looking for.
At first, I figured I would use my favorite band Nightwish, but I couldn't get a song I like. Everdream was a nice song, but it didn't feel... 'hard' enough for the action I wanted to put in. I also thought of Forever Yours, but it was simply too soft, and the lyrics wern't what I liked.
So I went searching, found various bands like Muse, loving their Apocolipse Please, but it didn't fit. I adore Sin City from the Genetorturers, but their lyrics are simply too out there to fit with giant robot fights. Vanessa Mae does WOUNDERFUL things with violin, which I am a sucker for, but none of her songs were hard enough. I downloaded various Masterplan songs, but I havn't had time to look through them all, and most likely I won't find what I'm looking for. Same with Within Temptation. None of the songs I've seen from Orgy or Our Lady Peace work, though I love some of their songs. Franz Ferdinand, Johnny Cash, Natalie Imbruglia, Boys Set Fires, Meatloaf, Foo Fighters... I'm afraid if I mention any one band that I like songs from, people will get the wrong impression about what I'm looking for. I tend to like more individual songs than artests, which is sad. Hell, I even like one song, Mindless Self Indulgence's Faggot, but I hate the lyrics and cursing. But I love the way the singer sounds... You can see why I have a headache over all of this.
I better just list things I'm looking for or like in a song
-It needs to be a Rock or Metal or Epic-ish song to work with my theme
-It would be good if it was a fast song. Not chipmunks fast, but fast paced.
-The lyrics aren't hopribly important, but they can't be completly out there either. I don't like cursing, or lyrics I can't understand. Typically anything about heros, endless fights, turmoil, ect...
-I can't get enough of Violin and Piano in fast songs. It's hard to explain, but the faster and harder the piano, the better. Not required.
I've blathered on long enough. Anyone crazy enough to sugest to me something? If I end up not liking it, I could point out things I don't like about it, which would probably make the job easier... demanding I know. Sorry.

HAH! My first customer for crazy music. I'm not opposed to you shutting down every one of these ideas. I've got more music to suggest. Let me know if anything is close.
Have you heard of Flogging Molly? It's pirate music! It's certainly fast paced, epic, has violins, and the lyrics are about epic sounding people. Unfortunately a lot of the songs do have some cursing, but not all of them do. Check out "Black Friday Rule," (has one instance of the F-word), "Queen Anne's Revenge" (clean), and "May the Living be Dead" (clean).
Have you heard of Gogol Bordello? No one has! There isn't a single AMV with their music on the a-m-v.org. It's Gypsy Rock! It's fast paced, has violins, and even an acordian! The music does have some mild cursing, like Flogging Molly, but it's fun. It's more like revolution music than epic though. Check out, "Go Revolutions," (some mild language) and "Mishto!" (no lyrics, but you should listen to it anyway).
There's The Music. Standard fast paced rock something. Check out, "Cessation," and, "Bleed From Within."
And while I'm throwing things out there, I've always wanted someone to do a VNV Nation "Savior (vocal)" or Iceman "Gate I - Odyssey"

Oh, I have indeed. And while the songs I like, they don't fit lyric wise. I can't have Gundams battling while someone sings about pirates. Sadly, that would make my video a comedy video, and that would be wroooooong.ReligionX wrote:HAH! My first customer for crazy music. I'm not opposed to you shutting down every one of these ideas. I'll have to look into those. Again, I really don't like cursing, so if it has cursing, I probably won't like it.Have you heard of Gogol Bordello? No one has! I think I can offer some more... wishes. If you want to know what I mean by 'fast piano', check out Invoke from Gundam Seed. There is a part in the middle, after the second chorus, where it simply sounds like someone is POUNDING on the piano as fast as they can. That is instant drool for me. Then again, if its a good combo of piano and violin, it can be slow as well. I point to Hoshi no Tobira from Gundam Seed Stargazer (I'm using an awful lot of Gundam Refrences aren't I?). The piano and violin sound so lovely. But I'm also a sucker, it seems, for the deeper chello sound. Basically, if you can find me something like that... I'd be in heaven.
The song that ALMOST fits would probably be God Knows by... uh... Haruhi. Though its Japanese, and I know AMV contests frown on that. Though... it might be a last resort. Then again, I love the line about tracing scars. Perhaps an Evangelion AMV...
I digress, I'll come back once I've looked into those songs, but I really wish I could find something with a Nightwish feel to it. Another ALMOST perfect song is 10th Man Down, but it was taken for a video called Shellshok(My favorite video of all time mind you... that video still gives me shivers... must feed on creator's brain!). I'm hard to please eh?

I'll try November Rain, but I must admit something...oceanangel2you wrote:The only thing that comes to mind with piano and violins that have fast but also slow is November Rain GNR and No Leaf Clover Metallica, but that is just off the top of my head
I can't stand Metallica. Bloody greedy bastards...

I'm half laughing, and half being serious: /Tarage wrote:Oh, I have indeed. And while the songs I like, they don't fit lyric wise. I can't have Gundams battling while someone sings about pirates. Sadly, that would make my video a comedy video, and that would be wroooooong.
The songs aren't all about pirates! What kind of music to you picture these characters from Gundam actually listenting to or playing out in the battlefield? Maybe "pirate" music wasn't the best word. It's more of "folk" music. Folk music is universal.
I haven't actually seen Gundam Seed to know what is going on in the show, and most of my Gundam experience is though Gundam Wing, Gundam X, Macross, and Macross Plus.
But getting back to mechs and folk music--you CANNOT tell me that the with Alan and Vahn from Visions of Escaflowne fighting with Guylmelfs (sp?) in the arena with "Ask the Owl" playing in the background wasn't one of the coolest scenes in the show--and largely because of the music.
In any event. It's fine if you don't want to use Flogging Molly. I just think that it would be a far more fantastic idea that you might be thinking. Let me know about the other stuff. If you can listen to any of those songs and tell me what it is that you do and don't like about them, that will help. I'll have to find those songs that you've mentioned as well.

Hmm... listened to Gogol Bordello, but unfortionatly I just can't picture giant robots epicly fighting for survival to... that. Sorry.
If I had to have a perfect song... I believe it would be very hard for most of the song, slow for a section past the middle, then hard again.
Feel like giving up yet? I'm hard to please.
