For what? If you're going for quality, .mp4 is the best. However, not everyone can play .mp4 because it takes kind of a fast computer, or they won't be willing to download extra stuff to get it to play, so if you're trying to reach a wider audience, XviD (in an .avi container) is the best (and the quality's pretty good, too).

if your going for the audiance the answer has always been mpeg actually ;p. cons accept mpegs, everybody can play mpegs; mac, windows, Linux/ Unix, mobile users alike, it takes VERY little to play mpegs as well... even a 300mhz monster can play an mpeg.

MPEGs are still good for your money, they are -_-
