custom soundtrack amvs

So, I've been away from this site for virtually forever and a half now. I work in the music industry and I've been in the studio a lot lately helping bands record and working with programs such as protooals and garage band. Even made some songs of my own just pur dicking around when I was drunk. For anyone that's heard of these programs, you might also know that it's easy to come across these at home, and make your own music on your own computer at any point in time when you're bored, whether you plug in or just use sound samples.

My question, since I've been away have any phenominal videos been made by a creator who made their own music for it? Or are all the top videos still major published tracks?

One of my videos (unreleased as of right now) uses a song by the friend of someone I met over the Internet.

I have one amv I haven't released to the public (because the recording of the song made the song's quality very low), and I wouldn't consider it phenomonal (actually, it could very well be seemed extra suckage) but the song was recorded by a friend of mine who is in a band. He asked me to edit a video with it, and I did.

I've done a video where I wrote the lyrics for a song. I have a few more planned in the up coming year or so.
