I am curious to know...
Hey all,
I'm new to this forum, but not new to AMVs.
I am just wondering how many of you are prone to mute the sound on any particular AMV and then play a new song over it, just to see if they will mesh.
I tend to do this a lot, sometimes it works and is really entertaining.
Other times they are totally off, and I quickly switch to another song.
AND
If you do attempt this time to time, could you list the song and AMV you used.
I really forgot all of my good meshes, so I'll have to get back to you.
Thanks

I mainly did it with my own videos (and haven't done so for like 4 years), although on a couple of instances I did overdub a different version of the same song to a video - Engel and Jesmaster's EoE-Dragula video come to mind there. Lately the only thing I can think of is that I played one song I'm thinking of editing with while 'watching' a Mai-HiME video just to see whether I thought the combination was as good as I thought it might be. I wasn't serious about seeing how it looked against the editing, though - just how well the music seemed to go with the show's visual style.

I once swapped out the audio to Jon Backer's TM!/"Help!" video and replaced it with the ECCBeatles' "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" (karaoke from the Evolution Control Committee), lined up as closely as possible with the original (in Adobe Premiere 5.1 because I didn't know what I was doing back then), and proceeded to be amused by how it seemed like Ryoko and Ayeka were on the screen every time the singer went "How are you gentlemen !! ".

I haven't done it on an AMV but sometimes if I'm editing and trying to find some scenes, I'll play the anime with the sound muted and play the song over it to see if I get any ideas for clip selection. This usually happens when I've been editing too late at night/after midnight and my brain is fried.
If I haven't actually decided on a song, then sometimes I'll play different songs to see if one fits better than the other.
