AMVs = Crap? (Reallly pissed here)

So I'm at another board. And in one thread we're talking about Avenue Q. So I post a link to a couple Avenue Q AMVs.

I quote "Warn people if you're sending them to AMVs if you're gonna post that crap in MY thread!"

I asked him "are you saying that AMVs are crap?"

His reply: "That's what I'm saying. AMVs are sh*t. Couldn't you tell from your other thread that no one gives a sh*t about this stuff? No one replied after you posted a link to that gut-busting (sarcasm) AMV Hell series."

.....

Response I'd like to give him: "Go F*ck yourself."

I would like to mention one of the AMVs he called crap is DokiDoki's "Stop Watching Anime and Go Outside" which is a favorite of mine and a damn fine video. I would like to also mention that above asshole from other board is an admitted furry, so his opinion is null and void.

But still... Crap? Is it possible that Yew-tube is causing people to think of all AMVs as crappy just because of what they see there?

Um.. No. Some people just don't like Anime. and Anime related things like this. One of my Friends hates anime, But whatever. It's just a matter of opinion.

Well that's true. Some people don't like anime.

But I do wonder if Youtube is responsible for a negative image of AMVs. I remember asking a friend if he'd ever seen AMVs, and he replied "oh, you mean those crappy naruto vids people post on youtube?"

No.. You don't get it. It's not because of youtube. It's because some people just don't like anime.

x2 - as much as it pains me to agree with this guy.

As for banning from forums for arguing... there's a lot to be said for stricter forum regulation. We could benefit from some stricter standards here.

Hey, don't you remember that editorial thing that people were pissed about that also said AMVs suck? And that was not written by an anime hater...

Hey, some people just don't like AMVs I guess. Ah well. There's always haters to be found for anything. Personally, I'd just shrug it off, flip them off as neccesary, and not worry. By and large, the hundreds of thousands of registered members here on the .org give more than enough reason to not worry about the state of AMV fandom. Those who just don't like them are probably not worth wasting effort on.

Interesting, in your thread you're mad about AMVs being slagged, but, just the other day I was reading a thread where the people were pissed that people could actually slag off Furries.

I find it just as odd to hate furries, as to hate AMVs.

But I will concur, I hear a lot of anti anime crap in places where I go. Frankly, if I have to choose between anime, crawling with cute female imagery, or crap like South Park which can only offer round blobbo looking kids with foul mouths and gutter humour or politically charged dialogue, well hell the choice is easy eh.

Now I am not saying people liking South Park are jerks (total waste of energy if nothing else, and my life is worth too much to waste it trying to slag off a group just because I think their precious whatever sucks).

I know of no other place that hosts AMVs like here, but I assume there are many others. I assume they are as interesting. I can't see a lot of reason to fret if I never find them. Hell, I am of the opinion there's too much to see here at any rate

Now Youtube, my main beef with Youtube where anime or AMVs is concerned, is the content is usually low quality at the visual level if not the quality level. But I have found some nice things on YouTube all the same. I just think the image grade is better here. Plus there is more here, better search functions too. And the ability to browse the top 10% sure helps.

I listen to Reflections about once a day. The song blows me away as well. Took me forever to ferret out that tune. Can't understand a word, but so what, the singer's voice is beautiful. And the video just magnifies it so much. I doubt the real video, if there is one for it, can even come close.
