Adding introdutions and conclusions to AMVS

Post by missind33 » Tue Sep 11, 2007 5:04 am

Sometimes in the begining people like to add a part of the anime at the begining or end. Can someone tell me the rules about that? For example, can you have part of the anime in the conclusion and begining? And do they have to be dubed. Because the clips I want to use have very bad dubs!

I don't think there are any "rules" as such for your AMV intro.

It just depends on what you want it to be like, and how much you want to piss of the viewer by having a 20 second long intro that booms loud ass metal when the AMV is a sentimental/romance type :|

Amvs are art.

That said, your creation can either look like good art, or something a kid did with crayons.

You'll know what you have when we start watching it :)

It's an AMV. Not a movie. When I go to watch an amv, I want to watch anime choreographed to music. Not a bad dub. Not some shitty music you thought was cool for an intro. And god forbid it pick up hosatchel syndrome, where all otherwise good works must be accompanied by contextually obscene music.

Noting that, do what you want. There are no rules; except to keep it under 100MB or have a good reason for going above it, no sexual nudity, and no realistic violence, IE Elfen lied VS Berserk.

I've always wanted to add a title splash screen intro or credit segment to vids, but i never got around to making them. =\

While there are no real rules for them here per se, the vast majority of cons won't accept vids with them - so they're something you just attach to your web-distro copies only. And, of course, there's no accounting for taste.

Sometimes I wish there was a rule where opening credits can't be longer than a minute...I have seen a few that long..... :?
Care about the video itself, not what format it's in.

I'd like to know if, when Advent Children Complete comes out, the scene where Sephiroth stabs Cloud, the blood gushes forth and Sephiroth hoists him into the air is somehow not going to be considered "realistic violence." heh

There are no rules really. Though if you want people to watch your intro/outro I'd recomend going for before the video rather than after. Reason being is that once the video is over, unless somone has a real interest as to what the contents of it were, they probabily will close the file before it even plays.
