Your Opinions On Watermarking

I noticed that more people have been starting to watermark their videos, not a significant amount, but enough that I run across some every once in a while. I've also been seeing a lot of people claiming other people's videos on the Tube and such sites and that's most likely the reason why.

What's everyone's opinion on watermarking? Do you think it's distracting and takes away from the video, or do you think nothing of it? I've seen people write that they changed their minds about downloading because they heard it was watermarked. I haven't decided whether or not I should watermark mine before I redistribute them ... Sometimes I do think it takes away from the video, but the last thing I'd want is someone claiming my video as their own. That would really make me

I think watermarks are distracting.

Yeah, or they can probably crop it off with Avisynth if it's small enough...

That really stinks. I also hate when people post them up and don't give the person the credit... whether they cut off the ending credits or not. I'm still reluctant to post mine without watermarking ... I could try to hide my name in a couple of frames, but I don't know how I would do at that.

Bo screw watermarks. Edit the footage are covered with graffiti saying your name.

The only advantage they have is to try and prevent some piracy on your videos from people stealing your footage or your AMV. However, I think they are distracting in an AMV and that takes too much away to be balanced out by the good it does. Even if it is small and transparent.
