Need an anime suggestion

So, I need an anime suggestion. Something with soldiers/warriors/whoever fighting for someone else. The thing is, they must not be appreciated for what they do and be fighting for people who just don't care for them. Soldiers sent off to their certain death for no real reason (although they're given one, it's not really true). Something like that.

Here's the lyrics to the song I'm going to use if this idea works out:

i would say many of the gundam series (gundam seed, 08th MS team etc)
full metal panic the 2nd raid (3rd season of the series) has the main character dealing with a lot of emotional termoil about following his orders as a soldier vrs following his wishes to protect the girl he loves.
Grenadier has a number of scenes of soldiers marching over mountains and through blizzards and dealing with hardships and defeat

are you looking for any particular types of soldiers (ancient soldiers, modern ones, futuristic) or any of the above.

Any of the above although I think I might stay away from futuristic.
