I'm working on an AMV to Bob Seger's The Fire Inside, and I've gotten to about the very end and completely halted- I've edited out the chorus-repeats so the music ends shortly after the last line of the last verse, but it's that line where I've stopped up.
"Dreams die hard and we watch them erode but we cannot be denied..." is where I'm blanking. I've used Gankutsuou, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, and a little bit of Hellsing to play out this mix of people debauching themselves and looking for love in all the wrong places and ending up ultimately dissatisfied, but I'm seeking out any advice as to what to pair with that particular line. If anyone has suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

It comes to my mind Elfen Lied, where there's a lot of underapreciated love, specially with the girls.
It's not common anime but, in Ray the animation the main character is in love with the wrong person almost until the end.
Maybe you can try with some of the chevaliers (knights) from Diva in Blood+, they could fit also.
In Tokio Babilon, Tsubaru is in love with the wrong person but I'm not sure if you're looking for straight relationships.
