Help and Information ( Yes I know Wrong board)

Post by eviltwin14 » Thu Sep 18, 2008 5:41 am

Hi

I am Che, I need some some information and help.

The first is about the anime Ghost In The Shell, I remember watching a film back in late 1990's (about 96-99) and the only part of the film I remember is a dog getting "cut up" on some stairs, can someone comfirm that it is the anime Ghost In The Shell.

And if i was to start watching Ghost In The Shell, series and movies, which order should I view them in to understand the story plot, and would someone also tell me which order they were released. ( If there is a relevant web adress where I can see this information, please post it)

The other problem is a little harder to deal with. I currently have the complete set of "Gun X Sword", "Berserk" (as well as many others), and I would like to "rip" it onto my computer so I can edit into amv's, and store as a back up incase the Dvd's get damaged.
However I have used a lot of programs and none have worked so far. Some of the freeware programs have limits on how much video they will rip, while others enforce the CopyWrite protection and do not allow me to rip at all.

Some of the programs I have used are:
Dvd Shrink
AMVapp
Dvd decrypter

AMVapp, is a program recommended by this site( animemusicvideos.org), it did rip however it took about 3 attempts. One which left me with a 1gig audio file and no video, another which had alot of vertical lines when ever moment [motion within picture] occured (I think, that I may have caused it when trying to make the resolution to large), it also paused in the playback every five to ten seconds, and the last only recorded half of the footage.

I think I can get AMVapp to work however I am to inexperienced in using this program, and while I have read and followed the guilds, I need some help for a more experienced user.

If someone can offer me help, or a program that will let me rip the dvd's onto my computer, please post it here.

Also the Dvd series "Gun X Sword" is in the PAL format with 25 Fps, and I think it is also interlaced( not full interlaced though, progressive perhaps) , which I know can cause problems when trying to edit.
When Philip of Macedon threatened the Spartans with, "If I enter Laconia, I will raze Sparta to the ground," the Spartans' reply was, "If."

Might I suggest you read the guides. All of them, and my sticky up above.

Have you checked to make sure your media is not dirty? Have you also checked to make sure the drive is not dirty? If you are getting input/output errors, this is very often the reason.

Specifics on OS and system set up would be helpful.

And yes, definitely wrong forum. Issues with AMVapp, specifically having to do with ripping, should be in the Capturing and Ripping section.

GITS...

Watch the first movie...

then watch the first season of the TV show (Stand alone complex - first gig)

Watch the second movie (Innocence)

Watch the second season of the tv show (Stand alone complex - second gig)

watch the 3rd movie (Stand alone complex movie)

think that's it. There are "ovas" but those are just compilations of the tv shows.

It's been a long time since I've watched the Ghost in the Shell movie, but I don't remember a scene like that. I have the DVD so I can check it to make sure, but that may be a while until I'm in the mood to watch it again.

The only show I can think of that has a scene of a dog getting cut up on a flight of stairs is Battle Angel (aka. Gunnm). It's just before the final fight scene in the first OVA episode.
