Short vs Long AMVs?

Post by -Corsair- » Sat May 16, 2009 10:51 am

I've been working on an AMV for the upcoming summer conventions, and realized that my video was really short.
It's about 2 minutes, and if I extend the song a little since I cut out parts I didn't like, it could be at most 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

I was wondering if short AMVs fare typically well in conventions.
ex: Will a person like Blabbler, who makes 40 second AMVs, win a prize compared to a person with a 4 minute long AMV, and solid editing?

I know most of you will say "it depends on how good the editor is" but I'm speaking generally.
Thanks

I prefer short videos as it decreases the chances I'll get bored watching it.

However, there are always exceptions, and the majority of my favorite videos are longer ones.

I hate short videos, most end before they even start.

Well it depends.

Sometimes a short AMV only starts getting good towards the end and then suddenly it ends and I get annoyed because I wanted more.

Often in long AMVs I'll get bored because it's just the same thing over and over.

But none of my favourites have either of these problems (Except for one).

I like short videos because most of the time I get bored with longer ones. I like editing shorter videos because I don't need 3+ minutes to get my concepts and ideas across.

I usually prefer 3-4 minute videos as long as they are done well, because sometimes the longer vids do drag one. Though there are some good short videos too. I think it just depends on what kind of vid you have.
