AMtv -//- Anime Music Videos 24/7

Post by cakeman » Tue Aug 19, 2003 5:08 pm

listen:

i have recently launched a project of mine called AMtv.
currently, its a handfull of anime music vids that i have collected. i use technology from nullsoft, makers of winamp: the nsv format. right now i am streaming @112kbps.

http://amv.x24hr.com/

i am willing to host music vids on my server (as .nsv at least) and broadcast them. AMtv is all about viewer submits. you may upload videos to ftp://ftp.amv.x24hr.com

videos MUST be nsv, mpg, mpeg (preferred), avi, or mov.

check it out, send me a video or email
thanx

avi can't be streamed. If you're going to make a real effort to do this, do it right. Choose between Mpeg 4, RealMedia, and Windows Media. If done right, you could get good streaming and good quality with any of the above formats. The chosen format depends largely on preference and need. Mpeg 4 will give you (theoretically) best support as it complies with a large scale standard. Decent quality if you use the right resolutions and framerates for the sort of bitrate you need. Realmedia will give you the best quality by a potentially large margin, but the userbase is restrained to those with the proprietary player or those with the illegal alternatives to said player. Windows media will meet you half way with quality and support, being the proprietary format of the company that makes your OS.

I have a firm belief that MS is the devil, and thus would recommend either option 1 or 2.

I like the idea though.

oh, correction, I misread the part about using nsv, which I'm not familiar with at all. Still, you should probably choose one of the above formats anyway.

... yeah
nsv is yet another new format which is apparently atm limited to vp3 for video and mp3 for audio.. both which suck. Go with one of the ones I suggested.

it sounds like a good idea, but i'm not sure why people would watch streamed amv's when they can get better quality downloads.

and if people have the bandwith to stream amv's then they should have enough bandwith to download 'em.

also, what's with the pics and zip files?

that "virus material" folder was uploaded like last month..
i scanned it w/ nORton2003 and it didn't say anything so i left it... I ran it. did your av say anything or was it the zips?

anywayz

yeah over 8000 "connections" per day on SHOUTcast.. why, got bandwidth?

well i don't.
its on dsl... w/ like 128k up.
bah.

whatever...
click teh links + make eh self suffiecent server.

PeerCast would be great, but no one uses it...
for bandwidth anyway..

i'm not looking to make money from showing amvs..

the audience is like [winamp 2.9 users  ] the watchers... not the creators.. ya know?
