I'm 22, I've never had the guts to ask a girl out before. I've always been kind of shy around girls unless I knew they liked anime cause well then I had something I could talk about with them and know they wouldn't look at me like I'm nuts. Recently I met a girl who I liked more then any girl I'd ever met before... she was kinda young compaired to me but anyhow... I asked her. The first girl I ever asked out and let's just say it didn't go well... and the worst thing is she works at the same place as me...
I'm 22 and it's the first time I ever had the guts to ask a girl. I don't exactly ever have a chance to go anyplace where I can meet girls. I'm starting to feel like I'm never gonna manage to get a girlfriend and it's driving me nuts. I don't wanna be alone for my whole life. I have friends but it's just not the same... especially when pretty much all of them have managed to get a girlfriend.

Eh, try again with someone else, and maybe ask a neutral person.OzzieArcane wrote:I'm 22 and it's the first time I ever had the guts to ask a girl. Work is not a good place to pick up people, in my opinion, because the people you work with view YOU as a co-worker, perhaps a friend, but not as a love interest (at least, not in the short term).
Basically, it's all business at work.
I'm out...

. Lion Custody .
There is a Mama lion, a Daddy lion & a Baby lion. The mama lion & the daddy lion were having a lot of fights so they decided to get a divorce. The lion family goes in front of a judge to decide custody of the baby lion. The judge asks the baby lion "Do you wanna live with mama lion?" The baby lion answers "No, mama lion beats me." The judge said "Alright, do you wanna live with daddy lion?" The baby lion answers "No, daddy lion beats me worse." The judge asks "Who do you wanna live with then?" The baby answers "The Detroit Lions, they don't beat anybody."
yep, all business. don't pick'em up except in anime.

^_^ Go play with an animal, a kitten, or even a dog will do it (and you all keep your pervy sexual comments away from this - I'm serious here ). If you don't have any pets, go find one and just sit with it for a while and forget about the problems you have with people (especially relationship problems). If you manage to laugh, at least once, you can look at the problem better, without getting so down about it.OzzieArcane wrote:I'm 22, I've never had the guts to ask a girl out before. First, you're 22 and you're a guy. If you're looking for a serious relationship (and not just - I knocked her up so we got married), it's a little early to be giving up. The best long-term relationships that don't revolve around early pregnancy usually sit around men in their early thirties and women in their late twenties. You're far too young to be worrying about lifetime loneliness. If you just want someone to have sex with, that's another matter altogether - check the bars and you'll find that. It sounds like you're pressured because of the old 'guys start dating in highschool and fucking in grade school' deal. That's shit, and everybody knows it. What you need is more female friends. Don't be so worried about asking girls out - just get used to hanging out with girls.
You already have the right approach - find someone with the same interests, someone you have something to talk about with. If anime is a common interest, then great, if not you may either have to extend your search or find new things you can talk about. Get yourself some girlfriends (non-sexual) and get more comfortable. If you can talk to a girl and listen to her gripe about pms with a straight face, you shouldn't have much trouble asking a girl out. And that old rule about 'not dating your friends' is more for the highschool crowd, and people who were little children together. Dating a girl you just met, or someone you see occassionally but don't talk to isn't going to keep you from being lonely. Yeah, you might be occupied for a few weeks, but chances are it'll be over pretty quick. Go for the long haul and you'll get much better results.
In the meantime, don't think so much! You don't have to be married by the age of twenty, and a lot of girls these days don't want to be pregnant before they graduate (high school *or* college). There's no need to rush and get worried about the future. All that'll do is get you all mopy and depressed even more - and believe me, if you're having trouble getting a girl now, it'll be even harder if you're slouching around feeling sorry for yourself. ^_^;; Some will give you a shoulder to cry on, but most prefer the guys who enjoy their lives and don't worry about the future. Think about something else, start a project, distract yourself, and make friends with your coworker. If you really liked her enough to ask her out, don't let your discomfort keep you away. Show her that you're okay by being cool with her - it *is* possible to be friends after embarrassing incidents - just don't take it too seriously. And don't be afraid of rejection. If you don't worry so much about asking a girl out that it becomes a 'life or death matter,' then it won't hurt if it doesn't work out, and you'll get better at it, more at ease.
Yeah, just take it easy and don't worry so much. You make me feel old. ^_^;;
