Cool. I'm working on writing a fantasy novel right now...but it's hard not to succumb to the stereotypical characters, I'm trying to develop an original idea based on the theory of balance (like between light and dark). So far the hardest part is coming up with the villains...the protaganists have been all sorted out and I know in general where I'm going plot wise...but for the villains...lol...

Hi there welcome to the Org forums. :)
Yeah, really gentle until you get bammed...
Well maybe I would've but now I won't.

I suggest the main villan being a dog....who eats souls!.........and uses them to power his Nx00-OMEGA, which will make all of nature sentinent so that it can fight back against humans!

When Rei ascended a little bit of my brain oozed out of my nose.

I write a lot of stuff. I'm working on a comic script right now that's kind of an alternate reality but still pretty well set in the real world. Most people compare it to The Matrix, except it's not at all.

Premise: The world is a dream, the dreamer experiences the dreams in bodies of people in the world she created. The government knows, and sets up a secret organization to protect the dreamer.

I have to be very careful to not turn it into cheesy sci-fi, so I'm focusing on writing it as a Spy Games type story. I have an issue and a half written, but I don't have an art team to draw it. So I have to do a little more and try to sell it as just a script, which is going to suck. But that's what I get for not being able to draw.

yeah.
E-mail me some, maybe I can draw it.

Unless you prefer an overly photo-realistic style.... not quite there yet.
I like bugging people. Deal with it.

A friend of mine who wants to draw the story (but is married and is managing editor of a magazine so he doesn't have time) and I were talking about ways to illustrate the story. And we came up with water colored backgrounds (ie: Lain & Blood the Last Vampire), and I was thinking Frank Miller style characters. Not photo-realistic, but not cartoony.

Mmm. Indeed. And I'm single and not obsessed with the idea of humping Rei or Asuka from NGE.

Now all of you. Show me on Keifer Sutherland where the priests touched you.

Yes. Yes they do. Standing (motion) and Beloved are in heavy rotation in my playlist at all times. Along with the VNV remix of Apop's Kathy's Song, which is unfuckwithable.

Are you getting the Pastperfect DVD?

Another would-be author here. Soldier, I'm also in the process of writing a fantasy novel and running into depressingly similar problems right now :'( Maybe we could share manuscripts and constructive criticism sometime? PM me if you're interested ^_~

Oh, and as for the balance idea, that sounds excellent. Have you ever read L. E. Modesitt Jr.'s 'The Magic of Recluce'? That uses chaos/order balance as it's main theme, and is very, very good also.
