in your sig like that you get both! Have you considered making a .gif? put both pics in your avater, you could keep the good one, then do a mouse over or something to make it evil when ever some one has their mouse above it. Then there's always the simle, lopping between the two

I was going to make that. But, just these two frames take 13Kb. Having them fade together would take an extra 7Kb for every frame it would take to do that. I mean, I probably even shouldn't use this 2-frame one because the Avatars are supposed to be less than 6kb...

I don't know if you saw my 50+ frame Avatar gif. It's 450+ Kb!
