Hey, Gene's not trying to compete with Kai Budde here. A fun deck is a fun deck, and that's that. Let him be.
So, Arturo, what're you playing at the moment? You seem like a well-researched player.

Currently playing a one up deck with every sliver, all duel lands and a few other types of land. The only sliver I am missing at moment is the sliver overlord; currently I am using Arcanes the Omnipotent in place of him just to draw 3 cards and to make him a target.
I also use a guided passage to make the other player get my coat of arms or my legacy weapon. Only problem I have it I don’t deal with artifact and enchantments wall at all. Only legacy weapon can deal with them. My weakness

Currently I've got builds of RG Beatdown and UG Madness. Admittedly my RG is suboptimal since I've never been able to get a hold of Call of the Herds. In their place I run a full set of Phantom Centaurs and a tiny bit more burn than usual.
4 Basking Rootwalla
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Wild Mongrel
4 Grim Lavamancer
4 Phantom Centaur
4 Elephant Guide
3 Firebolt
3 Shock
4 Volcanic Hammer
4 Violent Eruption
4 Karplusan Forest
4 Wooded Foothill
2 Mossfire Valley
2 Barbarian Ring
6 Forest
4 Mountain
The sideboard is pretty standard, however I prefer to use Threaten against UG where most RG players try to hide behind Ensnaring Bridge.
UG Madness builds are probably going to be debated until the moment the deck rotates out, so it's impossible to define what the perfect build is. Mine is:
4 Basking Rootwalla
4 Wild Mongrel
4 Aquameoba
3 Arrogant Wurm
3 Wonder
4 Careful Study
3 Roar of the Wurm
3 Circular Logic
3 Unsummon
1 Ray of Revelation
3 Quiet Speculation
3 Deep Analysis
1 City of Brass
10 Forest
11 Island
That list might be off by a card or two. It's difficult to keep up with all those odd numbers. My UG sideboard isn't really that great, since I've never managed to get a hold of enough Turbulent Dreams or any Callous Oppressors.
I'm also working on building a Goblin deck, since it looks like that deck should be huge after Mirrodin rotates in.

I may hit the AIM chatroom for an apprentice game or two one of these days. But... what exactly is the AIM chatroom? Yes, smartasses, I realize I need AIM, and I have it, but I've never used it to join a chatroom before, so I'm clueless as to how that works, even though I could probably figure it out.

Arturo, those decks look like pretty standard builds to me, but when you're talking about two of the metagame's most dominant archetypes, that's to be expected... 8) I swing between being a netdeck whore and building my own decks. I've got some sweet decks sitting around... Elvish Succession is the only netdeck I've got at the moment, but then again it's hardly normal. Oh, and I agree that Ensnaring Bridge isn't so good against UG, which often packs Deep Analysis or some impromptu artifact removal. It only delays the inevitable.
As for Goblins, I think that it's a fiiine deck but it needs some real tools or Silver Knight, Dawn Elemental, Wing Shards and Akroma (all 4 played in monowhite) add up to an autoloss. The better Goblins are against everything else, the more it will end up paired against it's antithesis, the monowhite deck. It really lacks good sideboard options at the moment.
Alucard, after getting your AIM account, enter the AIM chatroom for the site by pressing the appropriate button on the Member Main Page. Just arrange a meeting time with someone, trade IPs and off you go...

Yeah, Mono-White's gonna be a pain in the ass, that's for sure. Wing Shards and Dawn Elemental can be played around to some extent, but Silver Knight really is a killer for the deck. *shrug* Perhaps Mirrodin will give us some new tools. In either case, I can't really see Golbins dieing out even if it is metagamed against, much like RG didn't die out even when Slide was king. There are just to many instances of either deck just splattering people who missed even a single land and/or creature drop. It's really hard to completely kill off something that unforgiving.

A few weeks ago, I took SEVEN TURNS IN A ROW using Mirari's Wake and three Time Stretches. Goddamn, that was fun. Wake kicks ass.

You know, the very fact that the rules got changed has created more confusion and dispute than the rules themselves did before the change.Savia wrote:The game still plays very similarly, and now it's easier to resolve rules disputes.

With time there comes changes and with changes you have accept the good and the bad. As for 8th edition yes you loss some good cards but you as well gain old good cards. Yes they change the design of the card, but I kinda of was thinking back two years ago if they were ever going to change the design because it seems with adding new abilties to cards kickers, morph, flashback and so forth. It was bond to happend. But I do disagree with them changing the design of the card because it was fine the way it was. But like I said before with time there comes changes the good and the bad.
