Ebay
All I can say is that the best place to buy good Anime is Ebay. I bought both Serial Experiments Lain and Elfen Lied for a total $30. Looking most places, it would cost, just for one of them, about $80. Need I say anything else?
So what if you can see the darker side of me?
No one will ever change this animal I have become.
Help me believe it's not the real me,
Somebody help me tame this animal I have become!

Yea, ebay is HORRIBLE for getting legit DVDs. I got so fed up, I've reported hundreds of bootlegs to them over the past few years. Thy really need to crack down on this kind of thing. On a related note. If it is a bootleg that you're buying and they ship it USPS, it's felony mail fraud.

true that, I got dem bootlegs twice....but I had no previous knowledge of legitimacy. If the offer is too good to be true, it isn't true. That's the golden rule in this case.BasharOfTheAges wrote:Yea, ebay is HORRIBLE for getting legit DVDs. I got so fed up, I've reported hundreds of bootlegs to them over the past few years. If you're buying bootlegs, you may as well use downloaded fansubs, the quality will be better.Diclonius16 wrote:So far I haven't run into bootlegs. But I'll keep a watch out for them. Besides that, it really isn't that bad.

The problem is, sometimes you can't tell if its legit or not, even when the price is near what it should be. Sometimes, the bootlegs have "branded" insignias and symbols that are put into the dvds at random times. Sometimes, the subtitles will advertise some random website.....its happend to me before.Diclonius16 wrote:So far I haven't run into bootlegs. But I'll keep a watch out for them. What bootlegs have YOU been watching? The only ones I've ever seen looked almost as good as the R1 DVDs, plus they had the English dub and sub tracks, and sometimes some of the extras as well.BasharOfTheAges wrote:If you're buying bootlegs, you may as well use downloaded fansubs, the quality will be better.Diclonius16 wrote:So far I haven't run into bootlegs. With the exception of the one I saw once that had absolutely horrible English subs (you could tell it had gone through Chinese) and slight ghosting, but the images still looked pretty beautiful overall, and the dub track was there.

The ones they primarily sell on Ebay are full 26 ep seasons on 1 DVDScintilla wrote:What bootlegs have YOU been watching? While I echo your sentiment, you know there's a logical fallacy there. Your individual buying habits will not effect the industry one bit.JaddziaDax wrote:still id rather have the official coppies because i want anime to keep comming into this country...
