While I echo your sentiment, you know there's a logical fallacy there. Your individual buying habits will not effect the industry one bit.
All it takes is a large group of people having this same mind set and this story would be entirely different.

You are, however not responsible for those others. You are responsible for yourself. Just because someone else does something like you do, doesn't mean the initial attribution of the problem as stated was logically correct.

In my experience, Walmart usually only (sometimes) has the newest releases of pseudo popular anime and kinda big name OVAs. Sometimes they get older disks and more obscure anime. But that's usually what I've seen.

Meh, when I first started buying Anime (NGE, Chobits, Fruits Basket) I bought bootlegs without even knowing it. Now I splurge on Series at my local video store and support the company.

Spiral Complete Series: $65ish

Gunslinger Girl: $45ish

Ah! My Goddess: $65ish

Now I'm broke.

I've never seen bootlegs like that. I've seen all of FLCL on one disc, several 13-episode series' on two discs, and 26-episode series' on three discs.

Well, I reported around 100 of them one day, so I don't know what to say. =/
