Suncoast Closing
Anyone who is in the Cleveland area that knows of Westfield SouthPark probably knows the Suncoast I'm talking about. Since MusicLand filed chapter 11 bankruptcy they have chosen to close their least profiting stores and this includes the Suncoast at the mall, anyway I figured I'd inform you all of this. The current sales are 30-50% off everything in the store as far as I know. That goes for DVD, VHS, Manga, Anime, Magazines, Toys, Snacks, Clothes, and Gear.

According to one of the guys at my local Suncoast store (Rivertown Crossings Mall), FYE purchased all of the Musicland stores and is closing all of them, just to kill off the competition. I forget the exact numbers that were posted, but they were selling all regularly priced items for something like 30% to 60% off. They also had special prices on furniture and such as well.
Yeah, I just found out about this all tonight as I wandered into the mall to check the used section at Suncoast for discs I needed to fill holes in my collection. Boy does this suck.

Yeah... I have no idea what is going on. There is a posting on the musicland website that says FYE's parent company was going to buy the musicland group, but I haven't seen anything since that, and that was posted a month ago. I just got off the phone with Replay member services, and they say not all the locations are closing.
However, if you have a Replay membership but all the stores near you are closing and don't plan on driving a long distance to buy from them or use their web store, you can ask them to close your account and refund you for the remaining time left on your membership. It isn't a huge amount, though. I'm getting $12 and some-odd cents back for the 18 months I have remaining. The nearest Sam Goody store is 59 miles away, and the nearest Suncoast is 98 miles away. We had two Suncoast stores and at least one Sam Goody store in the metro area I live in, and they're all going or gone. Needless to say, I won't be shopping at any musicland group store anymore.

If you're in/around the Omaha, NE area here's the skinny on the Suncoast/Sam Goody stores:
Mall of the Bluffs Sam Goody (Council Bluffs, IA) - closing...30-60% off everything in the store.
Crossroads Mall Suncoast (Omaha, NE) - closing...same discounts as the CB Sam Goody above.
Westroads Mall Suncoast (Omaha, NE) - OPEN...and will be staying open at least for now (just verified today).
Originally, I had heard from a Sam Goody employee (and a manager, at that) that because of the bankruptcy, they were going to shut down ALL Suncoast stores and a large portion of the Sam Goodys across the country. I'm hoping that isn't the case in the long term plans, but one never knows.
