  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.

New Death Note Comedy Video

Post by silverhalo » Sat May 19, 2007 12:24 am

Hey all, this is my first submission to AMVs.org! It's just a short, goofy little video imagining what would happen if L (Death Note) threw a pool party. This was my first attempt at lip-syncing...so it's not perfect by any means. But, hopefully people get some enjoyment from out of it. :P

The song is 'Pool Party' by the Aquabats!

I'd appreciate any comments!

The lip sync is fine and the lip synced parts provide most of the humor in this video; the only real problem is all the lip flap (the old guy in the background during the opening phone conversation, the bald guy with glasses at the party, the guy at the far right of the suits lined up for the party).

Scene selection was pretty clever and fit the lyrics for the most part.

I think the video stumbles a bit in its pacing. There is not a lot of motion in the first 50 seconds, so it feels like a pretty subdued party. Faster cuts and maybe some simple motion effects could do a lot.

Quite amusing and funny, but the overall editing should have been knocked up a notch. Not much would have been needed for this to be really humorous and right now it's missing that little extra.

And since this is your first submission to the Org, you will probably notice that the feedback you get is very different from your average youtube comments.

I liked this a lot.

Yeah, that's certainly what I found with the Death Note comedy AMV I submitted last week. I figure it's because everyone at the org loves you and wants you to do better. :)

And click the 'Local' button near the bottom!
No, usually youtube users aren't a-m-v.org users, so they can't download, remove it, or they will start saying the link doesn't work :P

Amusing. What's the audio encoded as? Try as I might, I could get it to playback in VLC, but everything will play the video.

Thanks for all of the comments, guys! I was hoping a-m-v.org would be a place where I could get some real feedback on my videos, and it certainly hasn't disappointed!

To the person who asked about the audio...I honestly am not tech-savvy enough to tell you how it is encoded...Maybe somebody who downloaded it could help me out

Quicktime says it's encoded as AAC (Advanced Audio Coding), Stereo (L R), 48 000kHz.
