Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

And that is another reason why I don't believe you should have to download the local copy of an AMV (if one is available) in order to leave an opinion.
I thought you had to download a local copy to leave stars...do you have to download a local copy to do opinions too?
It's a rule they instituted sometime in 2005 or 2006, ostensibly to combat fraudulent opinions. I never pass up a good opportunity to oppose it.

The rule only applies to videos that have local copies available, so anyone can leave opinions on a video if it's only available from direct and indirect links (or from no links at all). The problem with that, of course, is that then you don't get to receive star scale scores on it.

The point of AMV's are to "produce something no one else has done" and give-us your understanding of what it means 8-)
Those who speak many languages would be the first ones to give feed-back ( if a feed-back was needed! ) 8-)

sometimes, no feed-back is enough-said!
I honestly have no clue what you are saying.

Firstly, if AMVs were about producing something that no one else has done then there would not be thousands of derivative Linkin Park vids. AMVs are about paying tribute someone else's art by reinterpreting it; regardless of whether something has been done or not. If the same rule applied to any kind of art then the rome's classical period and the rennaisance would have never happened.

Your second statement, "Those who speak many languages would be the first ones to give feedback"? is that in reference to my comment about the subtitles? The subtitles weren't for the benfefit of spanish speaking audience, as they are mostly incorrect, and at many times completely inane...so the main feedback would be "WTF?"

in general I don't see what your post has to do with the subject of my AMV and particularly what it has to do with the part of my post that you quoted.

I was curious, is anybody else using VLC media player and if so, did my video look unusually dark, like you couldn't see when Alucard was turning from dust back into human form? Because my media player is quite dark and I was wondering how to fix that. It's definitely not my monitor because I can open it in other players and it looks just fine, but VLC is too dark.

He meant that you can watch a video without having to download it. For instance, if you get it on a CD from a friend, or if you see it at a convention.

And that is another reason why I don't believe you should have to download the local copy of an AMV (if one is available) in order to leave an opinion.
Hahaha, wow. I totally hadn't realised it could be read that way. What I meant was that I'd downloaded it, but I still have yet to watch it. :P
