Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
 • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
 • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
 • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
 • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

A rabbit spreads it's wing

Post by HiH? » Fri Oct 26, 2007 8:35 am

I misplaced it. Will you help me find it? I very dearly miss my rabbit.

[I've read several places trying to figure out "how much" anime needs to be in a video for it to be OK...and all I could find was that as long as there's anime in it, it's fine...checked about everything (Main site FAQ, Forums rules, amv annoucnements Etiquette, the "terms of service" page before entering a video, ect) and everything just mentioned having anime in it. Considering I've seen several videos on here with anime+live action (Including one of the highest rated videos in Jihaku), I have to assume that's fine. If it's not, I appologize ;) It's about 20% anime.]

And here I am, posting shit about rabbits, and suddenly this appears.
I think the video should consist of about 75% anime or more to be considered an amv that can be catalogued. Not sure if it's ok, especially since it contains some anime and is not on local.. But others shall judge that, no?
And the youtube link is unnecessary here. The vidid is your friend.

Edit:
Didn't really get it.
Good part is that it had a random flying rabbitman scene, as well as a random ghey scene.
Seemed kinda artistic in a way, but still random.
The quality was very mehish - you have to work on your quality, a lot. It is an important aspect nowadays. Check some org guides for ripping DVD footage and all, more specifically, Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides.
It's not something I'd consider an amv though. There was barely any anime footage in this.

Hello :)

Thank you for the response :) Very appreciated.

While I understand there's very little anime footage, it's also a very short video, so (by counting the seconds) it was still a little over 20%...ofcoarse that means 80% is live action, so, yeah, haha.

Also, from my understanding, it doesn't have to be on local, only catalogued. And while a youtube link is not necessary, I also realize that there are people who like quick and fast and may not be "bothered" to download a direct link and would only watch via stream. If I could possibly reach a demograph that I couldn't reach before, and not breaking the rules in the process (I saw nothing anti-youtube, just that you have to post a link to the video catalogue), I'd like to do that. I also read about vivid in the sticky, but decided against it, but thank you for adding it anyway. :)

I edited my previous post with a couple comments on the video too.
Indeed the video doesn't have to be on local. What I was wondering is if it's wrong to have catalogued a video with so few anime footage, and if not having it on direct would make it less of a "crime".
As you can also see, the word youtube is filtered out here - People here hate boobtube, and we have our reasons.
Welcome to a-m-v, btw. (It seems you joined 2 years ago but you seem pretty new to the community, so I'm guessing you were just keeping it to download videos.)

I enjoyed it due to the sources being used, it's not a Keeper for me though.

Wrong, only certain people here hate you-tube. Don't be speakin' for everyone. :)

What constitutes an AMV. <--clicky!
Vlad G Pohnert, Video Catalog Administrator, wrote:Thus, to be an AMV the video must have at least one valid "anime" source. How much does it have to have? This is really a tough question, as a guide to be on the safe side, I have mentioned in a thread about 51%, but there is not exact strict rule that says it has to have that much. Suffice to say the video should be themed around anime with one valid source as this does gives leeway for creativity. So long as it’s not abused, then we are quite flexible. A 5-second clip of anime into a live action video, or even a video that focusing on non-anime, like the Simpsons for example, does not make it an AMV just because it has one valid anime source since the video is not focusing on anime. In other words, adding a few frames or seconds to a video just to host it here is not what this site is about.
According to this, your video isn't an AMV.
