War Story : Jin-Roh : UNKLE - Burn My Shadow

Post by harph » Tue Sep 16, 2008 1:03 pm

A year has passed, so it was time for me to sit down and try to make something new, since my hands started itching. I chose Jin-Roh because it's a movie, therefore I had limited material (lazy to search for good shots). And I chose a song from UNKLE and their album War Stories, because it's awesome (I was entranced by it especially when I saw them live).

All in all, I tried to used simple cuts, fast pacing and not too much effects, only some to keep the atmosphere.

The only problem I had was encoding. The source is very dark, and I couldn't manage to make it look 100% good. So I would always appreciate some feedback on this, but also other things that would be constructive.

Thanks.

I liked this a lot. However, that lip sync at the beginning really killed that part of the video. Like, I can't emphasize enough how much you should NOT have done that. Additionally, the lip sync wasn't even synched well.

That aside, I really dug the rest of the video. It had good transitions, good scene selection, it was just very solidly put together. Overall, 4/5 and a keeper. Good work.

To answer your question about the footage brightness, you're best off altering it in your editing program, via a brightness/contrast filter. That's what I did for my Jin-Roh video, anyway.
