First Dancehall Reggae AMV!?

Post by OfficialWarning » Thu Nov 20, 2008 7:04 pm

check out my first AMV. It has always been a passion of mine, to create my own. I have watched many and I give mad respect to those that have worked on a meaningful project! I really disregard slideshows...urghhh...this aint a wedding anniversary.

About the video, I have never seen/heard any music from the Caribbean, So I have made one, my first one! It is also my favorite Manga series...and the music just came out, late this year, and it could not have come at a better time. The riddim is by far one of my favorite`s now and I didn`t feel 1 track from it was enough, and I did not want to make the video to long by playing out each track. I also wanted to keep in the ragga tradition by turning into a quick mix!

Anime/Manga: Guyver: Bio Boosted Armor
Music: Beauty & the Beast Riddim (Various Artists)

Please rate it, as I have received positive feedback so far... looking foward to making many more, and supporting real AMV`s!
Enjoy!

Try to use the VidID tag

Code: Select all

[vidid]164030[/vidid]
It is the numbers at the end of your video link.

^ And thats how it should look like.

I'll get this later.

Edit: Yikes..I didn't like that at all. Looks like random clips thrown to music. Seems like you just started AMV making, so I guess you'll get better. Work on your scene selection.

As one that's from the islands myself (St Vincent), its good to see some carribean music being pimped

... and , while I don't wanna discourage you from making more vids, this was pretty bad. It felt more like you just placed random clips over music, no sync, beat or lyrical for the most part, (and Dancehall is dancing music, it has plenty to sync to) and I didn't feel any real connection to the anime, mood whise or anything. I felt no concept in this. It needs something more than just random footage to music to be interesting. Its your first tho, so my advice is to not give up, learn from some of the other more established videos, such as the ones found on the top 10% and the recomended amvs forums, and hopefully better luck next time :O

Btw...The clips were not random, ie; I picked scenes I thought related to the music, that told part of the Guyver story, except for the gunshot - lol [which still came from guyver]...I felt the video is pretty much in sync... I'm not too sure if you have watched guyver, but i think it relates well!

As much as I love reggae, it a hard thing to fit into an AMV, that one just didn't seem to gel together at all... I agree with the others to keep working with it...

One of my favorite reggae-themed AMVs was this one off of YOU.tube... Duppy know who fi frighten - Demarco AMV

One of my own on YOU.tube... Azumanga Fury

There are several other reggae songs out there that AMV potential, I'm hoping to try and get those done soon.
