I'm a Macross fan but.... I haven't even seen half of these x/ I only watch the popular ones (minus plus).

Anyway the video was... ok. I like slide-shows, just thought it was like 4 minutes too long. Than again, to pay proper respect to Macross 7 it must be long and drawn out eh?? But my favorite aspect of this amv was the song. I'm not familiar with it but it seems you dj'ed the two versions into one? I wanted to do that with one of my earlier videos but couldn't as the two were on different progressions *sigh* but if you did do this you did it amazingly well and you deserve applause. This video would be a hit on the tube!!

(and fyi if there's any question, yes that really is the seiyuus. Unlike other seiyuus, Macross seiyuus tend to be more Idol than voiceactor/ actress rather than the other way around)

ooo its out =O

MMMA---CRR---OSSSS

great job thoroughly enjoyed it 4.5/5

On a random note, this vid goes really well with the other all-Macross vid released a little while ago, since that one was all action whereas this one has a more dramatic feel to it so yeah good stuff, have a bit of both worlds now =D

Thanks... It's a lot to watch and if you're not in the right mindset, Macross 7 will be a major turn off >.>

EDIT: Ok, yes, I really dug this. My problems with it can all be attributed to the fact that I haven't seen any Macross, so a lot of it (mainly the buildup) felt really superfluous and didn't connect with me all that much (it also would have helped if there was more movement in some of the scenes). However, that aside, I think that your goal to make "the Macross video to end all Macross videos" was accomplished. I can safely say that after watching that, I don't feel the need to download any other Macross videos, because it just felt like you took an entire universe's timeline and condensed it down to 7:30. And it worked.

Because once the video picked up, man, I couldn't tear my eyes away. The video was just so packed with emotion and intensity, and I can only imagine what a Macross fan would feel when watching this.

And of course technically the video is fantastic. I don't know if I've ever heard of someone editing a song to make it longer, but you did it perfectly and I wouldn't have known if you hadn't explicitly said so in your video description. The video quality is also top-notch, and you did a good job at combining multiple generations' worth of anime without breaking the visual flow. Some of the older animation definitely stood out, but you did a great job at minimizing the ugly.

Overall, fantastic job Scott, and despite my minor complaints this is one of the best videos I've seen in a long, long time. All the work you put into it was absolutely worth it in my opinion.

5/5

EDIT 2: Forgot to mention, this really piqued my interest in Macross, which is saying something as I haven't gotten interested in any anime in a long time. If I ever find the time, I will definitely have to sit down and watch it.
Thanks Ben, I really appreciate the comments and I'm glad you enjoyed it. My major worries was that people would be bored and stop watching it before the end.

Edit: Oh and I forgot something that I've said to you since you started the video...
NEEDS MOAR MACROSS 2
Glad you liked it and... uhg... Macross II -_-

I'm not a big macross fan, but I enjoyed the beta and enjoyed the finish product even more. Maybe amvs don't suck anymore after all.
Thanks for the comment Ryan, I appreciate it.
Tsunami Jones wrote:First I'm going to say congratulations. I saw the time on the video when I opened the file and was like :\ certain that it wouldn't hold my attention (it's rare when a drama/romance video holds my attention for a full three minutes), but you know what? This video held my attention for the entire thing, and it really just flew by (no pun intended). It only felt like a three minute video even with so much packed into it. So yeah, it held my attention the entire way through, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Great, great job.  (the only thing I didn't care for, and it's small, was the male lip sync; it was sort of goofy).
Thanks TJ. As mentioned above, the length of the video was a concern to me as one of the major things I hate in a video is if it's long. For me, it's just as you described and I'm glad others feel the same way and the video is able to hold their attention.

As for Basara's lipsync, most of the scenes i used were from the OVA episode when he's actually singing the song >.> I was more worried that people would criticize the Minmei sync cause she never sings the song in the series.

OMG that is now my Fav Macross AMV now. That was great   . I also didnt think that a 7 min vid would hold me for that long but your showed almost all of my Favorite parts to Macross. Thanks for making it.
Thank you nerrose, I appreciate the comment and I'm glad you liked it.
Brad wrote:Ya know, after watching this, it really makes me wish I had a more "full" grasp on the Macross universe. I've seen all of Macross Plus, Zero, and Frontier, and I watched Robotech when I was really young (so I really only have a loose grasp on that whole storyline). This is very much a sentimental video and could be seen as a love letter to the creators and the characters of that universe. This is the epitome of a "tribute" video. The length didn't even bother me. It all felt very well paced and structured. Overall, I really really enjoyed it and appreciated the love and appreciation that went into it. I do however think that I would probably like it much more if I were as much of a hardcore fan of Macross as you are. So, either way, very well done :)

Happy Feb 22nd!
Happy Fed 22nd!!! :O I'm such a geek by releasing it on the day they do the fake ceremony >.>

Anyway, thank you for the comments Brad, I really appreciate it.

lol everytime i come to this site i end up laughing my ass off.

143MB? and no h.264 release? *stillgetsandgivesopoutofweirdness*
I did do a h264 encode and it wasn't much better, maybe only 10mb smaller. I will try again when kero is back up but don't count on it as it takes a long time to encode 8 1/2 minutes of video. So, making one encode and looking at the qaulity over and over again takes a long time.

It went by as a breeze,I enjoyed every second of it.Great song, great voice, great scene selection.Simply,GREAT!!
The best tribute to a historical franchise like Macross...
5/5

ps:The amv convinced me to watch Macross 7 too which is the only one I haven't seen yet...
Thanks, glad you liked it.

In response the comments about the audio: thanks and yes, I did mix the song. I took three (not two) separate versions of the song and mixed it together. The song was originally sung by Fukuyama (Basara) during the last episode of the Macross 7 OVA. Then for the 20th anniversary of Macross, Mari Iijima (Minmei) sung it for the Macross Tribute album. I also used a karaoke track from the Macross 7 Radio Fire! album.

Also, to clarify, Fukuyama only did Basara's singing voice. Mari Iijima was the VA for Minmei on the Japanese and English releases as well as sung all her songs.

Pretty cool. It's now my second favorite Macross AMV just behind "Need For Speed" by Skyfire. Good technique used. Next time I do a Macross vid I'll probably learn a bit from this one. Peace.
