Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Someday Soon's AMV(s)

Post by Minimoto » Fri Apr 10, 2009 4:20 pm

I have finally placed my videos up for download... W0o7! Well, honestly speaking, I think that they tend to get better as you go lower, the bottom being my latest. I just wanted to share my works in hope that someone out there will enjoy them. Pop by my Youtub3 page, Minimoto714, also and comment or something, I love conversing with those who have something to say.

Sorry, you're obviously new here you so I won't hand you your sign yet.

Mistake #1 - You posted here with twinkling eyes and a penny in your pocket. Please understand this is nothing like "youtub3". You don't put vids here for people to watch and comment. This site is for the specific purpose of critiquing AMVs, not enjoying them. You are not sharing them. You're putting them on the chopping block.

Mistake #2 - You invited people to look at your youtube account. A suitable metaphor would liken that to homeless guy inviting to Donald Trump into his box for dinner.

I believe the Op exchange is for critiquing videos and the announcement forum is for watching them. Now a side effect may be that people critique your videos, but the majority of responses made in the announcement forum is not critique. Even the critiques here are not like the being on a chopping blocks. If and when people critique, people usually give light critiques in the announcement forum.

Now the mistake Someday Soon has nothing to with their You-tube background. It's something common that a lot of new members do here, which is announce all their videos at once. People tend to not look through a list of AMVs to see if something sparks their interest. What I usually do when announcing an AMV is put the title and one of the of the sources I used. So for my video titled "Come Alive", the announcement thread was titled: FFVII: Come Alive. This catches the interest of someone who may feel like watching an FFVII video or think the title may be interesting. So for Someday Soon, I recommend picking you best video and editing you first post and the title of the thread to just be about that video. Put a little description about the video and then afterward put a link to your profile saying something like "If you liked this video, feel free to check out my other videos,"

Side Note (not specifically directed at Silk): People need to lay off of editors who got their start on YT/Streaming sites. The Org's layout is nothing like any streaming video site and same goes for the community. Stop alienating new members. Try helping them so that they can stay and grow in this community. This isn't just about new editors growing, it's also about allowing this community to grow as well with new members and new videos. Also, keep in mind, the majority of editors that have started in the passed couple of years have started on YT. So you're just going to have to get used to them coming in because this is how it's going to be from now on.

EDIT:

You don't come here to enjoy AMVs...? I thought this site was specifically made to see everyone's work, enjoy them, comment on them, ect. If we're not here for a comment, and enjoy them, what's the point in having an op or quick op option, being able to download in HQ goodness for keeps to rewatch them? O_o; (Am I wrong...?)
If we're not here to watch and enjoy amvs, then what are we here for? Arent amvs supposed to be fun...?

I know I post AMVs here I would like to share...

On a sidenote, I'll also check out these vids.

I'm sorry if I came off bad. Personally though, I do like for people to enjoy my videos. I make them for myself, but I'm elated if somebody else likes them.
I will be mindful of your comments and make sure to take care in the future.

I think what Silk was trying to say is that the org is a lot harsher than the tube in general. He just didn't articulate that well enough.

Well, what I probably should have said was "we are here to make AMVs enjoyable."
