Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

I've been addicted to this song ever since you sent it to me.

I actually followed your concept fairly easily, though you told me about it before, so maybe I'm biased >_>

Either way this is pretty kick ass :-*

I didn't care much for this one. Wasn't connecting the footage to the audio that well.

Also some of the darker areas in mainly jin roh the quality was noticeably degraded. I've seen 480p videos with sharper images and less blocky artifacts. But for the file size restraints for the local upload I can understand.

That was pretty nice, I liked it. :3

And about the quality, the only issue it had was some nasty banding on some jin-roh scenes...but to remove banding you'd have to kill the filesize (debanding to restore gradients tends to increase the filesize quite a lot) and it already was almost 100 MB, so I can understand your choice.

Thanks for your opinion! If you don't like the video you don't like the video :P Just like with my previous Death or Sacrifice video....the truth is I like these types of contradiction videos where it isn't exactly what you may see with this type of source material. I may be talking out of my ass here but the goal of this video was to naturally show how conflict effects people which is pretty much in every video but I wanted to link these stories together, go with the theme of you aren't the only one in this shit literally and symbolically and the feeling of because you are young and think its cool to do this you are therefore larger than life. (sky crawlers was the best source for this and I wanted to link something from the beginning of the video to the last scene with that source material)

As for the quality issue Jin-Roh was the biggest bitch. The source is from hd but it had the same exact problems present in this video and debanding did result in a bigger filesize but to be honest I should do better on that part. The you-tube version has a debanding filter in it which made it a bit better if you care:

and also to shamelessly promote BSP

But seriously, thanks to everyone for your input. (replace boochsack with u know what!, it has hd quality now and isnt total shit)

I'm the guy who made this thread so I just kinda have an eye for differences. Also my decoders are all the way up to date and I even viewed this video in both my 64 bit and 32 bit video players.

For the visual quality issues I had, the debanding filter sounds perfect to fix most of them. Could you make a direct download to the video with a bigger file size? I do not trust youtube as I've seen some issues with hd videos uploaded to it. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be willing to host for you.

I rewatched the video a few times when I was less tired and actually paying more attention to the flow and what the lyrics are saying I can say I'm actually enjoying it. Very good job. I may have done a few scenes differently but for the most part everything seems to connect well. Even though you used all hd sources, the quality and color style changes doesn't make the video match and that was one of the main problems. I would have adjusted levels, brightness/contrass, saturation/intensity, etc between clips to improve the feeling and better connect with the changes in the styles in each anime.

Edit:I don't see why you see a better difference on the youtube one with the debanding filter. The mp4 on youtube is 63.1 mb while the one on this site is 90.4 mb. Also it seems some frames are off and the audio in the ytube version of the video. Don't know if this is on purpose but that sort of thing is expected when you upload your videos on youtube.
