Re: Solex
Enjoy your openings..
Is that all video's are becoming these days?
The opening was setting itself up to be something interesting but it went down the generic shitter after that. All I'm seeing is the same video I've seen a thousand times before. Same BPM music and the same scenes. I applaud you for trying to set up something interesting, but I'm taking that right back in regards to execution.

Honestly gonna have to disagree with this, for me the one problem was that your transitions and camera movements between scenes were very tight and smooth, but the footage didn't match that. So in a sense it felt like the entire video was start/stop/start/stop as you shifted between scenes.Ingow wrote:The beat and the main atmosphere/mood were flowing together pretty well
In terms of the mood, for me it felt a lot like your previous "Morning Drive" only this time without any coherent link between scenes. I thought the speakers were quite nice (did you model them?) but were used perhaps a bit too frequently. I feel as though it would have benefited a lot from using less sources and developing them individually more, rather than flashing bursts of seemingly unrelated scenes, but that's just how I feel about it.
Overall I think it was ok, the last third of the video really picked up but still didn't bring it together.

Re: Solex
Didn't like it. It was too slow, had too few cuts, too little visual rhythm...it felt like a rough draft of something that could be great.

Re: Solex
So I wanted to watch this video and just disagree with the negativ comments and...
Ok this really suffers of one big thing: Nostromo copy. Sorry but it just feels like the copy of his style.
and your concept is... whatever. You have some nice original animation that I really like, but what for? It feels like it's just too much a random collection of the pretty-pictures-anime-scenes, because of your original animation parts I was always wondering where the concept is left. something like a link between the random scenes and those animation parts. I could have accepted the randomness without the original animation though.
I really have to ask the same question as Nio:
Editing wise: Splendid. It's great for me. I can't complain. Really.
The major three problems for me:
-Where is the clear concept, link between the random scenes and the animation?
-It just feels like you're trying to copy Nostromo's style.
-The colours. At the anime parts they felt too much grey for me. It had some sort of grey style wich isn't friendly or nice for such a vid.
and the last scene with the original animation: huh? I thought: Yeah there is comeing some sort of "punchline" or a short climax, but no nothing at all... Where is the fucking point?

Are really only the pretty-pictures-anime make the amvs today? I just have the feeling that most of the new animes just rely too much on the visual art of those anime. The rest is often. Well trash or generic garbageIs that all video's are becoming these days?
