Feedback on cataloged Anime Music Videos

Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:

  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Hello all! I'm Shirker, long time "member" of a-m-v.org and recent-time participator. Strangely enough, there's no new member announcement thread (or atleast none that I can see) so I thought that this would be a good place to say hello I guess.

Anyway, along with my introduction, I'd like show you all my chops and to introduce my first "serious" AMV. Hopefully it's worthy. Please enjoy! :)

Anime - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Basically, this vid is a AMV summary of sorts displaying Haruhi and Kyon's relationship. I wanted to play it safe, so I did the vid in basic "Intro-body-conclusion-credits" format. Again, hope you like it. Made with Sony Vegas Pro 9.0. Time spent: 4 days (14 hours cumulative).

Welcome to the org Shirker!

That was a very good video for you first serious amv. All the flashes made me want to punch a penguin though :sweat: Flashes do have their place, but personally I would use them sparingly. You did show scenes that are rarely used, and I think that's pretty interesting. I can see you experimented with many effects, which is the right thing to do for a first video. I'm by no means an expert though. Can't wait to see what else you have in store!

Punch a penguin?! lol, nice way of putting it XD.
Yeah, I tried to attach white and black flashes to snare and base hits respectively, but looking at it after I made it, I could tell it got a bit hard to view. I've gotten better at using effect with the AMV I'm working on, so hopefully it's easier to stand. Thanks for your constructive crit ^_^.
