Atmosphere & Anime in the library {Kireblue} 2 AWA Pro vids

Post by Kireblue » Tue Sep 20, 2011 5:49 am

Here are my 2 vids that I submitted to AWA Pro this year. Neither made the finals, so I'm uploading them now.

This is the remake of my "Noein Control" AMV that I made over 2 years ago. I always felt that "Noein Control" had the best concept of all the AMVs that I ever made, and that I ruined it by using terrible video quality and amateurish editing. So with "Atmosphere", I made sure to completely redo and update everything while still keeping the same mood and concept of the original. I hope you all enjoy. You can watch the original here:

Additional random info: "Noein Control" is actually the AMV that got me the position of Momocon's AMV Assistant Director in 2009, and was the very last AMV that I edited on Windows Movie Maker.

Oh and, since this AMV can be hard to understand without previous knowledge of the show, here is a brief summary of the plot.
Spoiler :
The necklace around Haruka's neck gives her the ability to travel between, alter and essentially "control" time and space. This causes her to get targeted by a group of people from another dimension that need her powers to save their home. Her best friend/ love interest named Yuu tries to protect her, but is no match against them. The guy with white hair is one of the people sent to capture Haruka, but he soon realizes that that her world is actually a past version of the world that he is originally from. He also realizes that she is the teenage version of his dead girlfriend, and that Yuu is the teenage version of himself. This causes him to ignore his orders and protect the two of them whenever they are in trouble.

I made this video for AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal and decided that it could stand alone as a full length video.

Not enough sync, good stuff though nonetheless.

Anime in the Library was okay. It wasn't really my cup of tea though. Still, good job.

That being said I really like Atmosphere, it was one of my favourites in the contest and I nominated it for a few categories. At first I was a little confused to what you were trying to show(especially with the repeating scenes of that ring around her neck, it left me kind of confused) but I think I managed to figure out what the concept was after a while and it was definitely done quite well. Anyway it was really enjoyable to watch, I'm a little sad it didn't get into the finals though. :(

P.S. You have an extra "h" in atmosphere in your poster.

Anime in the Library

Really cute. I think the addition of a few more library girls/guys might have added to the video, but as is, its still pretty nice. A short video that is direct and to the point. Good theme wise, and has a good concept with adorable execution. There were a few hiccups in the editing I thought [direct cuts between different anime].

Oh, and the lip sync was extremely well done. Looked very natural and well placed.

Atmosphere

I'm personally prejudiced with this song, since Radical_Yue's Radience will always have my heart with this song.

That being said, I think it was a cute video. I think it could have used a little more action/movement during the chorus, but you had a great climax with the addition of the voice, and the overall thing was pretty well composed. I compared it to the original, and you've made fantastic strides in editing.

As a non-fan/viewer of Noein, I kind of got lost as to what the purpose of the white haired guy was, and the repeated bits with the necklace was kind of odd to see. I got the gist of the concept, and I kind of want to see Noein so I can REALLY get it. xD

But still, nice. :)

At first, I was a bit surprised that you felt "Atmosphere" needed more sync since it has so much more sync than the original. But I see what you're saying. The song's chorus has a fast tempo, but since I intended Atmosphere to be a romance AMV, I held off on a lot of beat sync, and gave the video a fairly slow pace. I'm glad that you still thought it was good.

Thanks. Oh but, the characters in my AMV don't approve of the characters in your AMV eating books :book: :nono: :asd:

I'm really glad that you liked it. And thanks for the votes :D In terms of the story, Noein's basic plot is as follows:
Spoiler :
The necklace around Haruka's neck gives her the ability to travel between, alter and essentially "control" time and space. This causes her to get targeted by a group of people from another dimension that need her powers to save their home. Her best friend/ love interest named Yuu tries to protect her, but is no match against them. Thanks Code for watching the original as well. Oh and I completely understand than a non-fan of the show wouldn't be able to figure out some of the scenes. I'm glad that you enjoyed it anyway. I just added a brief description of the anime to my original post. It should clear things up a bit.

Good stuff. I nominated Atmosphere for a category or two if I remember correctly. :)
