  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

You sure do love exclamation points, don't you? And yes! You announced it properly ;D

Adding effects to a movie like this is rather difficult. It's already so highly detailed so any major alterations just look really odd. It was a nice attempt to make the video different by adding the green-ish filter but sadly it didn't really mesh too well with the already strong color schemes Shinkai uses. When you've got a series that looks like this it's better to try and simply enhance what is already there as opposed to altering it entirely.
Really, both the effects and transitions you selected worked against the video more than for it. The text was impossible to read and distracting, the shaking, zooms, rotos, and flashes were all incredibly over the top for such a tame and slow source, and the overall flow was lacking. You need to slow things down and maybe try to go for some internal sync to bring upon the feels as opposed to relying on shaking frames and big flashes. Finally, the audio sounded a bit lackluster, muffled and such as if it wasn't a CD rip so just be careful about that.

Overall, the video wasn't something I particularly enjoyed and you've got a lot to work on, but don't let that get you down because you seem to be pretty ambitious. Keep trying new things but just make sure those new things compliment the preexisting style of the source you're working with.

You did a really nice job with building up an atmosphere and mood, something that's really important for a video like this. I feel like it went a little over the top sometimes - such epic music for what's a very subdued teenage sorta-romance feels a bit cheesy at certain points. Same goes for some of the effects - I'll generally agree with Yue on that!

Definitely some good work and good effort all around. I'd just keep it a little more subtle!
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
