Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Hello everyone! I'm new here. I hope you'll like my very first entry there and have the first feels of summer
I've done some video games footages and this is my first anime footage using a large number of tools, codecs and so on (maybe that's why the quality of my video is kinda bizarre).

Re: Summertime Alive
A technical point first, this video has a fair amount of interlacing and frame blending going on throughout. I'd highly recommend sorting this out for future videos, as it's really quite distracting.
The video itself was pleasant, with a nice mood going on. I felt like some of the clips you chose (To be specific, the clips involving Karen and Hachikuji from monogatari and some of the Naruto clips) didn't really fit with the rest of the video, and I felt that the typography in the second chorus didn't really add anything to the video. But, overall, this was a pretty nice video, let down somewhat by the technical aspect.

As for the interlacing and frame blending, it wasn't a problem as I was editing. I guess next time I'll be more careful on the codecs and compression I choose

Were you editing with Sony Vegas? Because if you have the preview window set to "Preview" (instead of "Good" or "Best") blended frames show up as fine when they actually look very bad. If there are multiple sources with different framerates, the blended frames don't show up in "preview," so that might be one possible cause of you not seeing it while you were editing.Squalexy wrote:I understand, thanks for the comment!MouseBollocks wrote:A technical point first, this video has a fair amount of interlacing and frame blending going on throughout. I did enjoy the video, though. It would be even more enjoyable if all the technical aspects were sharp.

Thank you so much, now I know where the problem comes from!Pikapwn wrote: Were you editing with Sony Vegas? I was also editing with 720p and 1080p footages, somehow that made the quality a bit weird.
I always set the preview windows to "Preview" because I can't see how smooth my video is when it's set on another quality I guess I'll have to work with both next time.
Thank younice summer amv ^^

Re: Summertime Alive
This is just my opinion, totally personal, take it or leave it.
I didn't like the text and would have preferred an AMV without lyrics. They only showed up in one part, which felt a little strange. The text itself felt kind of static. I think, that if you're going to use text and put lyrics in a video, you've got to have it be a reoccurring theme or it just feels strange for it to suddenly begin about halfway through the video.
I like the mood of this video, overall.
