I'm really confused with what your trying to say so I'm bolding some of what you said. For the sake of creativity "shoved in your face" doesn't say too much. I wanted to use text because I felt that it would work well with the anime/audio source at hand. I selected the "random" words, well because hell I'm making the AMV. The text was meant to amplify certain portions of the video for a emotional effect not a karaoke effect. As for "integrated into the amv", I'm at a loss because that discards your previous comment. I admit the video isn't perfect, but what your implying is only making partial sense to me.Replay Studios wrote:The reason why I say that is because most the text is poorly done and shoved in your face. Seems like you just choose random words from the lyrics and put it on your scenes here and there. Whats the purpose of the text? because if its for karaoke effect, then why not do all the lyrics? I just see it as a distraction, kinda like how a logo or subtitles is a distraction. Now if you added a purpose to it or made it look more integrated into the amv, then it might have change what I think. I said if you integrated into the amv better, then it might changed how i perceive it. So if your goal was to amplify certain portions of the video for emotional effect, it does not come off as that. That is why I think its just a distraction.Ryvannis wrote:I'm really confused with what your trying to say so I'm bolding some of what you said. Point taken, that does make some sense. Thanks for making the clarification on what you thought I was trying to illustrate. I didn't like the text at first, not one bit, but I thought it was incorporated throughout the video as a whole pretty nicely. I tend to avoid lyric videos but this one wasn't bad.Replay Studios wrote:i like the text in the beginning but the rest of the text in the amv is just so boring X3
lol at me for leaving a real comment about the video, right

I'm pretty militant against text as well, but this one... ...felt kinda fun when I first saw it. I was kinda surprised and confused when it was entered into Rom/Sen at AX. I do see the sentimentality that Dean was aiming for, but it's got stronger chops competing against up-tempo and upbeat vids than against ones with sappy feels.seasons wrote:I didn't like the text at first, not one bit, but I thought it was incorporated throughout the video as a whole pretty nicely. It go re-categorized it to Upbeat at SakuraCon and it was well received.

Re: Hearts & Houses
you can blame me for that. my view of Sentimental is obviously different than the norm which by popular demand apparently means "sappy".XStylus wrote:I'm pretty militant against text as well, but this one... ...felt kinda fun when I first saw it. You can have it anytime. Once your not busy.Tearx wrote:where's my din din?
Text was very experimental, I'm unsure of how others would respond to it and didn't expect it to be positive either. But it's obvious that both you and xstylus do share similar views though. There were a lot of mixed opinions, but I'm glad that you two enjoyed it.seasons wrote:

I agree. I was hoping to know better by the time I submitted it to AX. Categorization was pretty hard and I wasn't sure of where to place it. I've had a combination of people telling me it that it should have been placed in drama/sentimental and that was before deciding on upbeat to be proper categorization. Now if only that AMTV Pro (where I initially thought it could actually fit) wasn't axed then it wouldn't be such a hard choice.Rider4Z wrote:you can blame me for that. my view of Sentimental is obviously different than the norm which by popular demand apparently means "sappy".XStylus wrote:I'm pretty militant against text as well, but this one... ...felt kinda fun when I first saw it. Re: Hearts & Houses
I think the video has potential. I just think it is too effect heavy and it doesn't really focus enough on the anime. I see points where the video works with the lyrics and the emotions. However I do like the idea of the texts it makes it seem like a "Music Video" you would see on tv. There something I can't put my finger on, but something just doesn't seem right with the video. I want to like it, but something is holding me back. I can see there was effort put into this.
I'll take another look at it later tonight to see if I can see anything different. If you would like me to leave a review on your video tonight, just shoot me a message. (Heck I might do it anyways if I have the time.)
