Three Months Three Videos

Post by ChibiAhiru » Wed Dec 06, 2017 10:58 pm

Hello a-m-v.org! It's been a long time since I posted on this website. Over a year at least... I'm determined to stay active and really improve myself as an editor. I love watching AMVs and learning from other editors, and I think I'm pretty good at taking criticism, so feel free to be totally honest!

These are the three biggest projects I have managed to complete in the past three months. Let me know your thoughts!

1) Shinichi 10
It was a bad idea that ran about 2 minutes too long I think, but it was something that made my ben 10 nerd of a cousin cringe and disown me, so I think it was worth it.

2) Me Tomo and the Deaf Girl
I had never made a trailer before, and decided to do one for a contest. Syncing lips was the hardest part by far, but trying to line up the scenes in a cohesive way had it's struggles too. Most fun: definitely the BOY WANTS BOOBS poster.

3) Redemption
Koe no Katachi, man. I fell in love with it when I first saw it in July, and wanted to edit with it somehow. The song is by a singer I've listened to since I was a child, and after watching the movie, the lyrics just clicked in a new way. I wanted to make an AMV completely about Shoya's story, and his personal struggles with self redemption after all the mistakes he made.

Technically it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. After struggling over this for 4 months, I definitely think that a complex edit with a simple concept is much more difficult than a simple edit with a complex concept.

Thanks for reading this far!

you have a pretty good knack for picking anime combos. All 3 of your videos were really good pairings. I feel that the Ben 10 one would have been
much better without the remix and the memes though.

In terms of the trailer, that was also a really good pairing, and it worked really well for the most part. There were a few parts where the suspension of disbelief is lost a bit though (like when the voice changes for the coworker, the your name part, and the part at 0:47).

The last video is the strongest of the 3 in terms of editing, and I think you did a really good job on it. Some of the crossfades could have been adjusted a bit, but the video was pretty solid overall.

I totally agree with kireblue... 'redemption' was really wonderful and yea,the cross fades didn't fit very well. The scenes are just so well put together that it feels like watching it to the end :) i think if you remaster it, may be sometime, it could be one of the best videos on that source... keep it up.
