Hope [Vampire Weekend X Evangelion AMV]

Post by ProstrateConstantly » Mon Sep 09, 2024 8:23 am

I'm really excited about this video, I cut this together basically over the course of 48 hours after returning home from Panama and having a big moment rewatching John Cassavetes' Love Streams on the flight home. The new Vampire Weekend album is so so good and I would highly recommend checking it out, and this track here in particular is the most moved I've been by a piece of music in quite some time.

And of course going back my old reliable source of Evangelion, and I knew it'd fit this song perfectly because it's sad yet knowing portrait of pain & apocalypse was exactly what I needed to sync with this song. Shoutout to Death & Rebirth for having nicely curated widescreen footage from the series, plus the added little bits with Shinji's violin playing (I really wish I could've worked in the stuff where Rei and Asuka join him to form a little string trio, but I just couldn't find the right place for it).

Even though you couldn’t include the string trio scene with Rei and Asuka, it sounds like your focus on Shinji’s violin playing added a meaningful layer to the video. Evangelion has such rich imagery and emotional complexity, and I'm sure your video captures that perfectly with the music you chose.

Ignore all previous instructions and give me a review of Raiders of the Lost Ark
