lets try this again, Tool - Parabola / evangelion video

Post by chasd » Wed Feb 19, 2003 10:54 am

OK here's a much better link to my first anime video. I used scenes from Death and Rebirth and End of Evangelion. The first minute or so is suppose to be an introduction to a few of the characters ( Rei, Shinji, Misato(sp?), and asuka ). Then I tried to go through each character in turn and do sort of a mini profile. Some of it is a little discontenuous but then again this is my first attempt.

None of my friends watch any Anime and many are very anti-anime but they all seemed to enjoy the video so it can't be too bad :). Anyway, let me know what you think.

btw, if you were a victum of the clusterfuck that was the link i posted yesturday I'm sorry.

AH good :) I'd say the download is about 400x faster now. That was kinda messed up yesterday.

as i'm waiting for this anticipated (being NGE) amv, i discover that.. it's interlaced.

if u dunno what this means.. i actually meant the series of horizontal lines that appear throughout ur video during motion-oriented scenes.

i hope this isn't your finished vid. ^^

u might wanna de-interlace or IVTC it when u get the chance. this will make the weird lines disappear, making ur vid all nice and clean. it's explained in AD & ErMaC's Guides here.

Very nice vid even though it's ur first. :)

interlacing

Post by chasd » Wed Feb 19, 2003 4:55 pm

yeah when I first saw the finished product i was very unhappy with the interlacing. The only way i know how to deinterlace the clips is to go back and rerip the chapters off my dvds and recut them ( a very long process ). Unless there is a quicker way I'm not going to mess with it and I'll just be sure and deinterlace my next video.

funny thing one of my friends, an architect who wasn't even aware anime existed, thought the interlacing made it cooler.

well, u can use the guides to IVTC or de-interlace ur vid. it should be much more quicker than de-interlacing the way u described it. :D

by using VirtualDub; simply open the vid (if u still have it) which u exported from ur editing program, add the "de-interlace" filter", let it process (about 6 minutes depending on ur comp's speed and the length of ur vid), and viola! the only problem is that u can't just run ur quicktime-encoded video through VirtualDub, cuz it's not supported.

trust me, it's very easy once u get the hang of it.. a lot of people seem to use this technique also. but it's ur choice..

by the way, there's a tremendous amount of static in the last minute and 22 seconds of ur vid. it's a waste of data methinks.

If it is Eva...the DVD's released by ADV will be screwy with the IVTC, but it's worth at try.
