Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

There was a video in the comedy catagory of the 2000 Otakon contest that used pop-up video to the anime Kareshi Kanojo no Jijyou and was set to "Friday I'm in love". I actually have no idea if it's on this site for download though.

It hardly matters if he was the first to do a pop-up video parody or not. What matters is that he did it so well. His video his hilarious and original. Saying that it's not original just because someone else did a pop-up video already is like saying that all AMVs are not original because setting anime to music has been done already.

Anybody who watches both videos can see that Kurt's video has no relation to the other one, other than the "pop up." The humor and the techical aspects combined make the Excel video something totally unique.

Hmm... It won't let me download. I'll have to get it from someone else.

It still is original, cause the other pop video had info about the series, this one had inside info about the video. New twist on the same idea.

Anyway, either way it was really good. Did you submit it to any cons?
