Well don't get the wrong idea that this is our first time making a video. We have messed around with cutting up video before, with anime and other things, though we by no means experts. This is the first time we have tried anything like this though, and we did learn to use After Effects from scratch for this

We appreciate all the nice comments, it is a better response than we had expected :)

For those that don't know, MADs are a style of videos made in Japan that are somewhat similar to AMVs. In fact MADs and AMVs can often be the exact same thing. The type of MAD that we created is called a Seishiga MAD, and it uses still images to create a video. Please check it out and let us know what you think!
Not bad for a first attempt at a MAD. Looks like you guys did your homework studying the effects/tricks others have used before. You definately demonstrate competence with After Effects. But there isn't much of a cohesive balance between the music and what you're trying to show. There are moments where it syncs nicely with the beat, but otherwise it's just jumping from one effect to another. It doesn't feel like a "music video". Then again, I don't think music video really applies to MADs. To me, it's more like a DEMO. If you want to know what DEMOs are, go here.

All in all, I'm impressed at your attempt at such a difficult style. And I applaud you for finally offering some MADs for us to see. I've collected a few over the years but they are incredibly difficult to find - only available on Japanese sites which I can't read.

Good luck with it.

It did feel like a demo of sorts. Could be good advertisement for the game ;p

A lot of MADs are like alternate openings for animes. Not very many of them follow a story like those found in AMVs. They are quite literally a different variation of music videos. Here is an example of one of the more famous MADs.

Sense Off

Note: My description is largely based off what Dwchang has told me but the MADs I have seen support this.

It reeks of cuteness.

Very nice work overall, I've thought about similar concepts in the past using only stills. The syncing was top notch, but the credits felt a little early to me. Still, definately earns a 4/5. Keep it up.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

That video used to be pretty impressive until I found out that almost all of the effects were copied straight off of a tutorial site :|
