Burly Brawl + DBZ = Success?
I just made my first video, its the Burly Brawl theme from The Matrix Reloaded done to the legendary Freeza saga. I'd very much appreciate some reviews on this, as I spent many hours on this, working on timing, editing clips, etc. I'd like to hear feedback, both posative and negative. Be as brutally honest as need be, I want to learn. I think I did a damn good job, but I'd like to hear some unbiased opinions

the sheer length of this video is something that put me off to a degree
i don't have anything against long videos, but instrumentals with the same thing being shown throughout the video (not LITERALLY the same, just in general) are really hard to stay interested in
if only the song had been better, something a bit higher paced, a little less built-up in some parts, i think the video would have been better
up til 2:20, the video was still kule, i liked how it flowed through the fight and the tension in the music was really well matched with the fight itself, things seemed to be building up to something, and then the fight would regain it's regular pace and keep going
and the whole charging up with the spirit bomb and kinda making it seem like he was gathering strength to use his kaioken, that was kule too
***
once the actual spirit bomb scene comes up, i think it took too long to actually happen and the rest of the video for me was just waiting for it to finish... but that could just be that i've seen that footage soo many times already that i know what it is and i don't pay as much attention to it (over-exposure)
i don't think that krillin exploding had a good musical climax with it
and goku's transformation music was also lacking... i think people give this song too much credit =\
so aside from me bashing the song, i don't think ur video was too bad
i think the video concept is sorta lazy in a way though, i don't think anyone WASN'T having a dbz-related thought during Revolutions, so there have been some dbz/matrix vids made, but they don't seem to be working too well... although this is the best that I've seen
i do like that you stayed true with most of the progression of the fight, you made all the right choices as to what scenes you used where and you timed ur video out to best reflect the fight with this music
my only real complaint is that the 2nd half of the video dragged possibly due to the whole spirit bomb scene, though i am aware of just how much you cut out from that scene to make it fit here
instrumentals are sometimes hard to judge skill on because they can be looked at in so many different ways, so sorry that i couldn't be of more help to judge ur skills, but it was most good stuff, but another song i'm sure would give u more to work with and would better reflect ur skill for people to judge u on
***
video quality: i think by now, it shouldn't be that hard to get dvd footage for these episodes... also, DivX ad in the corner has to go imo

Yeah, the spirit bomb does drag on. I need that, however, to keep the timing with other parts. I threw in the Kioken scene to break it up, and I also used the burying of Vegeta to build tension and to show the reason for his passion and anger. Thank you for the compliments on the timing, I spent a LONG time on that. I redid the ending about 4 times, so I hope that that was acceptable. This is my first video, and I think I did alright. So hopefully you'll be hearing more from me in the future. Thanks for your review!
Also, if any more people want to help out, I'd appreciate it.

Review time
Alright for starters, I may just lunge out and attack you Daio :/
I gave him the link to DBZ Arena which has over thousands of HQ dragonball clips. Trust me, its good for people who don't have the money to waste on the entire series of Dragonball Z .
Alright on to my review.
For starters, I admit this is by far the most kick ass video I have ever seen anyone do being that it is their second one. In all honesty, I have not seen a single persons music video within their first 4 be worth anything, mine included *which is why they are now removed.*
Anyway, a pure instramental song, I give it a +2 for uniqueness, yet a -2 for repetitive music. Its a decent song, but he does have a point at times it is repetitive.
Now your timing, as I taught you to do *grins like the usual credit hogging tycoon he can be*, is perfect, without a doubt in my mind you have gotten that skill down.
Next lets put in quality of the video, stream-lined high quality images, perfect. These are good pluses for you.
The songs length is a little long, but I honestly think Daio just lacked the patience to sit through it. Moral of the story, DON'T WATCH A VIDEO WHEN YOU NEED TO RUN OUT THE DOOR. Heh, sorry, just remembering a few rediculous opinions I've recieved in the past, simply because the person never ever took the time to watch them for what they were. He watched it briefly, gave a low opinion and says he will get back to them later to properly review them, did he, of course not.
Anyway, enough of my ranting, here are your key points.
The initial Goku Vs Freeza fight (pre-ssj) was great, very well thought out, well planned out and well executed. Some of the high points you hit at a perfect moment which really catches your attention, one being when Freeza slams Goku through the rocks and just as they hit the rocks the music picks up.
The spirit bomb is a nuetral stand-point to me, it is a little lengthy (the episodes of the actual anime just made it rediculously long.) but I feel it was a great addition to it, and Goku's yell when he unleashed it was perfect timing, something the great Neo would be proud of too.
The krillen exploding could have had a lil more timing to his explosion, however, it wasn't meant to be a "focus" of the video as Daio seemed to view it as. I saw it as tension rising, to push Goku over the edge, which is unfortinately for Freeza what actually happened.
There is one point where Daio was right on, the transformation, (I never knew why you liked the silent yell, Beo heh.) needed to be at a more intense moment, the music picked up too rapid for his little moment of glaring at Freeza while SSJ. The fighting afterwards wasn't too bad, though I kind of miss the original draft where Goku hits Freeza into the hole. The slower punch was great timing and perfect way to end it with Goku unleashing all of his energy in a powerful yell as the planet exploded.
Welp heres my final grades
Quality - 10
Music - 8
Originality - 8
Timing - 10
Effect - 8
Replay - 8
This leaves my final opinion as an 8.5 on a scale of 1-10 on this video.
In star ratings, it is a 4/5 at worst.
Keep up the good work,
Your local Scyclone

just making sure we're on the same page
like i said, i did enjoy the 1st half of the video more than the 2nd half (you put it as pre-ssj) it did have great timing with the song, the tension built at points where it should have and let go into fierce fighting musik at exactly the right times
i do admit that i see krillin exploding as a scene that deserved more focus because it is the more brutal and just out of the blue death that frieza delivers to goku's friends, vegeta was beaten to death and suffered... but he went down fighting and gave it his all, krillin was simply out of nowhere put into the air and given straight death served cold without hesitation, so i felt the musik should have reflected it more
i think i would have liked it a lot more if it had been overlayed over a shot of goku along with other passing images of his falling friends, that way there not being any sort of climax except for goku's transformation would be easier to accept
so we agree the pre-ssj fight is better timed, and that goku's transformation scene is something you either love or have trouble accepting
as for me being in a hurry, it's not that i was, when i op or mini-op a video, i watch it way more than once, and i go back and watch parts again as i'm oping the video, it's just that, like we've said, the song gets repetitive and goku vs frieza is easily nothing new, so it's like i was being beaten over the head with BOTH video and audio and it's hard to stay interested in having steak when you have steak everyday, a little bit of maybe Italian cooking every now and then would be appreciated is what i'm saying... but originality is always being preached already, so i'll stop here
okay... the footage is HQ, but there's not perfect, i'd give them a 9 at the most... but another point in having dvds is that whether or not u have HQ footage, you don't have any logos in the corner (forget the removeable DivX, Mediaset, Cartoon Network, International Channel, etc... are worse because they're NON-removeable)

Scintilla's Amazing "The NERV Evening News with Dan Rather" was one of his early videos.
Same with Koop's "Gravity" and "Damaged Rei-Mix"

Not especially. Let's stop bashing Scyclone for a minute, and can you please tell me what I can do to make it better?
